Never Again. Never Forget.
Today marks the 54th commemoration of Martial Law declaration in the Philippines.
On September 21, 1972, Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law through Proclamation No. 1081, placing the country under one of its darkest chapters in our history. It was a time marked by the weight of every life lost, the silencing of the press, and a throne built on greed.
The commemoration also reminds us that the struggle for truth and justice must continue, as the Marcoses kept getting away with the consequences. Only recently, the Supreme Court overturned the conviction of Imelda Marcos, former first lady of the Philippines, in seven out of her 10 graft cases.
Let us continue to resist the distortion of history thatโs happening now that Marcoses are still in power.
