UDM Bahaghari was recognized as one of the Top 20 Finalists for the Most Outstanding Project for Peace Award under the Ten Outstanding UN SDG Awards (TOUSA) organized by UN SDSN Youth Philippines. The award recognizes youth organizations and initiatives that demonstrate significant contributions toward advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through impactful and sustainable community-based programs.
Among numerous entries from across the country, UDM Bahaghari's advocacy and initiatives promoting inclusivity, equality, SOGIESC awareness, youth empowerment, and safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals were recognized, placing the organization among the Top 20 Finalists nationwide.
Additionally, UDM Bahaghari's application to the Global Youth Program (GYP) was officially approved. Through this accreditation, the organization becomes part of an international network of youth leaders and organizations that receive mentoring, capacity-building opportunities, guidance, and support in implementing sustainable development initiatives.
This recognition is a testament to the organization's journey and continuous commitment to serving the LGBTQIA+ community and the wider UDM community. Since its establishment, UDM Bahaghari has grown into one of the university's largest student organizations, leading various advocacy campaigns, educational seminars, Pride Month celebrations, community-building activities, and initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all.
The recognition highlights not only the achievements of the organization but also the collective efforts of its officers, members, alumni, partners, and allies who continue to advance the values of equality, representation, and social responsibility both within and beyond the university.
