💨 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐙𝐄? 𝐋𝐄𝐓’𝐒 𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐊.

Massive forest fires recently occurred in Kalimantan, Indonesia. The smoke was carried by the southwest monsoon (Habagat) to the Philippines, affecting parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Northern Mindanao. This caused areas to experience transboundary haze.

Haze is an atmospheric phenomenon wherein tiny particles such as smoke, dust, and other pollutants become suspended in the air, reducing visibility and potentially posing health risks, especially when fine particles (PM2.5), which are about 2.5 micrometers or smaller in diameter (around 30 times smaller than the width of a human hair), are present.

To protect ourselves during haze, experts advise reducing outdoor exposure, wearing a well-fitting N95 mask, managing indoor air quality, staying hydrated, and looking after our general health. Current guidance from the Department of Health (DOH) and the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) also emphasizes limiting unnecessary or prolonged outdoor activities, using appropriate masks, and monitoring air-quality updates.

𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐚𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧 is a platform designed to keep us connected to pressing environmental issues and the fascinating world of our diverse flora and fauna. By staying informed, we can each play a part in protecting our planet and fostering sustainability in our everyday lives. This initiative is a small step toward building a community of environmentally conscious individuals.

Please be informed that the Environmental Science Student Society will now start collecting the amount of Php 390.00 Department fee for the 1st semester A.Y 2026-2027.

All students are encouraged to settle their department fees on or before October 30, 2026.

Environmental Science Student Society (EnviroSSS) has been officially re-accredited by the CMU Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) as a university-wide student organization for the 1st Semester, A.Y. 2026–2027!

It is not merely a renewal of status, but a renewal of purpose: to continue fostering environmental consciousness and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, one advocacy at a time.

The Philippine Association of Environmental Science Students invites you to sail and dive again towards deeper wisdom and excellence in leadership! We are once again opening the application for the fifth batch of Sisid: Environmental Leadership Training Program.

🌊 What is SISID?

SISID is an exclusive program for official members of PAESS. It aims to engage environmental student leaders from various provinces of the Philippines to improve their leadership skills, critical thinking, project design, and management, among others. The program will start on September 19.

[𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒] 🍃 𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐚: 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐒𝐒𝐒 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲, 𝐀.𝐘. 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕 💚

Ka-Enbay gathered at the CFES Ground on Thursday, August 6, 2026, for a colorful and meaningful start to the semester. With each year level proudly wearing their assigned color-coded shirts, the assembly truly felt like one big EnviroSSS family. 🍀👕✨️

From welcoming the faculty and introducing the new officers and committees to sharing the organization’s accomplishments and plans, the assembly was filled with exciting activities, including raffle draws and an open forum.

The assembly also recognized outstanding Ka-Enbay students and EnviroSSS officers through special awards for A.Y. 2025–2026, honoring their leadership, service, dedication, and active involvement. Plaques were given for the Leadership Excellence, iLead Excellence, Epitome of Service, Aktib Bata, and Bida Ka-Enbay Awards. Certificates of Recognition were also presented to the outgoing EnviroSSS committees for their service in A.Y. 2025–2026, while Certificates of Appreciation welcomed the incoming committees for A.Y. 2026–2027 and their commitment to the organization.

More than an assembly, it was an opportunity to reconnect, celebrate the accomplishments of the past year, recognize those who have served, welcome the new committees, and look forward to what lies ahead.

Here’s to a new semester, new memories and more opportunities to live out our motto, “Lagi't-Lagi Para sa Bayan at Kalikasan.” 🌏🌱
