USTP-Claveria Freshmen Actively Participated In 'You're Worth Waiting For' Seminar

The Office of Student Affairs of USTP Claveria headed by its Director, Dr. Lindylou M.Yamuta, has spearheaded in convening a 2-day seminar, entitled "YOU'RE WORTH WAITING FOR" to all first year college students, March 15-16, 2023 at the 3/F Function Hall of Administration Building.

The said seminar is aimed at educating the younger students as the youth of adolescent stage the importance of abstinence education with scientific and biblical grounds to cater their needs on issues of pre-marital s*x, thus resulting in teenage pregnancy.

That based on survey in 2020, teenage pregnancy is considered as the most important problem of Filipino women today. The increase of this teenage pregnancy has been steady since 2011. In Claveria, teenage pregnancy has been the foremost problem facing our girls or young women. Social media through Facebook has been a powerful tool or means of communication especially this pandemic to explore s*xually-related engagements of the youth.

Resource persons from the Student Movement for Christ International (SMCI) based in Cagayan de Oro City, had substantially imparted and interacted with the students some very worth pondering progressive and interactive topics on social issues in their generation.

Emphasizing to the students the ill effects brought about by pre-marital s*x, among other s*xually-related engagements, the SMCI resource persons had articulated and guided them the spiritual and moral recovery to augment the nation's moral excellence of being MAKA-DIYOS. That both the girl and the boy, or the man and woman are worth waiting for.

Healthy discussions with biblical connotations had surfaced-out in the seminar venue where students likewise attentively participated.
