ICYMI | BECEd Preservice Teachers Present Research in 1st Colloquium

The CLSU College of Education, Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, held its 1st Research Colloquium for Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) preservice teachers on April 14, 2026, at the CED Teachers Hall Amphitheater.

Four (4) BECEd research groups presented their scholarly outputs before a panel of esteemed faculty members, namely Dr. Nixon V. Agaser, Dr. Abegail Dela Fuente, Asst. Prof. Joseph A. Villarama, and Dr. Marites M. Mascarinas.

The activity highlighted the importance of research in early childhood education and reinforced the department’s commitment to developing reflective and research-oriented future educators.

The CLSU College of Education, Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, successfully conducted its 1st Research Colloquium for Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) preservice teachers on April 14, 2026, at the CED Teachers Hall Amphitheater.

A total of nine (9) BEEd research groups presented their scholarly works before a panel of distinguished faculty composed of Dr. Nixon V. Agaser, Dr. Abegail Dela Fuente, Asst. Prof. Joseph A. Villarama, and Dr. Marites M. Mascarinas.

The colloquium served as a platform for preservice teachers to demonstrate their research competencies, fostering a culture of inquiry and academic excellence among future elementary educators.

LOOK | DECEE Future Educators Undergo Mock LEPT at CED Amphitheater

The College of Education, Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, successfully conducted its 2026 Mock Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers on April 7, 2026 (Tuesday), from 6:00 AM to 12:00 NN at the CED Teachers Hall Amphitheater.

The activity served as the culminating requirement for ENC 4204 (General Education Course) and ENC 4205 (Professional Education Course) of the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) programs, providing students with a simulated examination experience in preparation for the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).

HAPPENING NOW | The BEED and BECED Teaching Internship Program of the College of Education, Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, is conducting its debriefing session, program exit survey, and interview at the CED Teachers Hall Amphitheater today, April 22, 2026 (Wednesday), from 7:00 AM to 12:00 NN.

These activities are in line with the department’s commitment to strengthen the Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) implementation of its programs and to gather feedback for continuous curriculum improvement.

LOOK | CLSU Retains 16th Rank in 2026 AD Scientific Index; More than 200 Faculty and Staff Cited as Scientists

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) retained the 16th rank in the 2026 Alper-Dodger (AD) Scientific Index University Rankings, solidifying its trajectory toward becoming a world-class National Research University.

The university's success is a testament to the hard work of its faculty and staff, with more than 200 employees making it onto the list of ranked scientists/researchers. For the second consecutive year, the university is led by Dr. Elmar Villota, who retains the top rank with the highest H-index metrics, followed by Dr. Sofronio Kalaw and Dr. Rich Milton Dulay.

In addition to its overall ranking, CLSU also held strong in the Public University Rankings, maintaining its 8th position with the highest H-Index.

HAPPENING NOW | The CLSU College of Education and the Schools Division Office of Science City of Munoz conduct the 2026 Capacity Building for Reading Instruction at the CLSU Auditorium, under the joint projects of both institutions to improve the reading literacy of struggling elementary and secondary learners. Project ZERO, Project BE SURE, and ARAL program aim to involve various key stakeholders such as pre-service teachers, in-service teachers and student volunteers to participate in different school-level reading programs within the division.

Several program faculty members from the Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, College of Education, have been listed in the AD Scientific Index under its Total H-index rankings, reflecting the department’s continuing research visibility across education-related and interdisciplinary fields.

Among those included is Dr. Joel Mayo Torres (H-index: 13 total; 12 in the last five years), whose indexed interests include pedagogy, sociolinguistics, second language acquisition, and language-and-culture studies. Other DECEE faculty members featured are Dr. Rosario Flores Quicho (H-index: 6; last five years: 6), Mark Gill Mercado (H-index: 4; last five years: 4), Dr. Ma. Ruby Hiyasmin M.
