𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐎𝐖 | PEECEA opened this year’s Teachers’ Day celebration with our annual Salubong, where we welcomed the CED Faculty Members with smiles, cheers, and applause as they arrived at the CED Old Building. More than just a tradition, the Salubong gave us a chance to pause and remind our teachers how much their presence and dedication mean to us.

The celebration continued with a Flash Mob and Harana, collaboration of BECED, PEECEA, and Gamma Kappa Rho/Sigma Gamma Lambda Fraternity/Sorority (GKR-SGL). Through every performance, we shared our appreciation for the educators who continue to make learning meaningful and memorable.

Teachers do more than teach lessons inside the classroom. They encourage us when we doubt ourselves, help us recognize what we are capable of, and remind us that growth does not always happen through success. The things they teach us become part of who we are—even beyond our years as students.

Nakikiisa ang Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education (DECEE) sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa ngayong Agosto 2026.

Sa temang “Wikang Filipino at AI: Kasangkapan sa Pananaliksik at Tulay sa Yaman ng Impormasyon,” kinikilala natin ang mahalagang papel ng wikang Filipino sa makabuluhang paggamit ng makabagong teknolohiya. Sa panahon ng artificial intelligence, patuloy na nagsisilbing tulay ang ating wika sa pananaliksik, pagpapalawak ng kaalaman, at pagbabahagi ng impormasyong nauunawaan at napakikinabangan ng bawat Pilipino.

Nawa’y patuloy nating gamitin, pagyamanin, at itaguyod ang wikang Filipino bilang wika ng edukasyon, pananaliksik, inobasyon, at pambansang pagkakaisa.

Mabuhay ang Wikang Filipino! Mabuhay ang Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa!

ICYMI | DECEE Strengthens Partnerships with Cooperating Schools through Field Study Deployment

The College of Education Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education strengthened its partnerships with cooperating schools under the Schools Division Office of Science City of Muñoz, Schools Division Office of Nueva Ecija, and Schools Division Office of San Jose City through a series of school visits and Field Study (FS) student deployments.

The school visits and deployments were facilitated by DECEE Field Study supervisors Dr. Abegail P. Simbre, Mr. Mark Gill M. Mercado, and Ms. Rosa Mia M. Arayan. During the visits, the supervisors met with school principals and cooperating teachers to formally coordinate the deployment of Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) students.

The meetings provided an opportunity to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the university, cooperating schools, FS supervisors, cooperating teachers, and pre-service teachers throughout the field study experience. The supervisors also gathered insights and recommendations from school administrators and cooperating teachers regarding the preparation and performance of DECEE students.

The feedback provided by the partner schools will help the Department identify areas for improvement and ensure that the BEEd and BECEd programs remain responsive to the actual needs, expectations, and realities of basic education schools.

The school visits also opened opportunities to sustain and expand existing partnerships. Dr. Michelle T. Jayme, School Principal of Maligaya Integrated School, expressed the school’s intention to continue the existing DECEE extension project being implemented in their institution. Her expression of support reflects the value of the continuing collaboration between the Department and its partner schools.

Through these school visits and FS deployments, DECEE reaffirmed its commitment to building meaningful and mutually beneficial partnerships with cooperating schools. These collaborations provide pre-service teachers with authentic classroom experiences while enabling the Department to continuously enhance its teacher education programs through the perspectives and recommendations of its partners in the field.

ICYMI | DECEE Successfully Completes ISO Audit

The College of Education Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education (DECEE) successfully underwent an ISO audit on July 28, 2026, reaffirming its commitment to quality assurance, effective service delivery, and continuous improvement. The audit was conducted by Dr. Daisy O. Casipit and Dr. Judith A. Teano.

During the audit, DECEE presented its academic programs, operational procedures, records, and quality initiatives that support the preparation of competent, responsive, and child-centered teachers. The Department also highlighted its efforts to strengthen instruction, research, extension, student development, and stakeholder engagement in early childhood and elementary education.

The audit reviewed the Department’s procedures, processes, documents, and records to determine their compliance with the University’s Quality Management System and applicable ISO standards. Particular attention was given to the consistent implementation of established procedures, proper documentation, monitoring of program outcomes, and continuous improvement practices.

Present during the audit were Dr. Verjun J. Dilla, Department Head, together with the faculty members of the department.

The auditors acknowledged the Department’s efforts to maintain quality standards and ensure the proper implementation of its academic and administrative processes. The successful completion of the audit reflects DECEE’s sustained dedication to accountability, collaboration, and institutional excellence.

This achievement further demonstrates the Department’s commitment to providing quality teacher education programs and preparing future early childhood and elementary educators who are equipped to respond to the changing needs of learners, schools, and communities.

LOOK | DECEE Field Study Supervisors Convene to Strengthen Field Study Courses

Field Study Supervisors of the Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education (DECEE) held a coordination meeting in preparation for the implementation and improvement of Field Study courses for the current semester.

The meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Mark Gill M. Mercado, Dr. Abegail P. Simbre, and Ms. Rosa Mia M. Arayan, who discussed key areas for strengthening the delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of Field Study courses for pre-service teachers.
Among the major agenda items was the revision of the Field Study syllabus to ensure alignment with the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED) and Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) programs. The supervisors also reviewed the core components of the courses in consideration of recent developments in pre-service teacher education and relevant findings from the EDCOM report.
To further enhance the assessment and documentation of students’ field experiences, the group also discussed the revision of the classroom observation tool and the development of a Field Study Evaluation Tool, which will be led by Dr. Abegail P. Simbre. The preparation of CHED requirements for off-campus activities will be spearheaded by Ms. Rosa Mia M. Arayan, while the development of the Field Study Manual will be led by Assoc. Prof. Mark Gill M. Mercado.

The meeting reflects DECEE’s continuing commitment to improving the quality of experiential learning among pre-service teachers. Through the planned revisions and development of support materials, the department aims to ensure that Field Study courses remain responsive, outcomes-based, and aligned with current standards in teacher education.
