The Department of Communication and Development Studies (DCDS) holds a week-long writeshop on June 22-26, 2026 in support of the ongoing preparations for the upcoming accreditation of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACUP) for the following programs: PhD DevCom Level II, MS RuralDev Level IV, PhD RuralDev Level IV.

The activity focuses on faculty members reviewing and assessing documents to ensure its accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of information that meets the standards and requirements of accreditation.

DCDS Holds Department Meeting in Preparation for AACUP Accreditation

The Department of Communication and Development Studies (DCDS) held a department meeting on June 1 and June 19, 2026 to discuss preparations for the upcoming accreditation of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACUP). Faculty members and staff gathered to review requirements, assess readiness, and coordinate tasks necessary for the accreditation process.

The meeting focused on the three graduate programs scheduled for accreditation: the Doctor of Philosophy in Development Communication (PhD DevCom), Master of Science in Rural Development (MSRD), and Doctor of Philosophy in Rural Development (PhD RD). Discussions centered on program documentation, compliance with accreditation standards, and strategies to strengthen the presentation of academic, research, extension, and support services.

Faculty members expressed their collective support in ensuring that all accreditation requirements are met and that the programs demonstrate their excellence in graduate education, research, and community engagement.

IN PHOTOS | DCDS participates in the Nationwide Simulation Earthquake Drill

The Department of Communication and Development Studies (DCDS) took part in the Nationwide Simulation Earthquake Drill conducted on June 18, 2026. Faculty members, staff, and students participated in the activity as part of the nationwide effort to promote disaster preparedness and resilience.

During the drill, participants practiced the standard earthquake response procedure, “Duck, Cover, and Hold,” and followed designated evacuation protocols. The activity provided an opportunity for the department to assess its readiness and reinforce awareness of proper safety measures during seismic events.

CLSU DCDS faculty members, Dr. Andrea May Malonzo and Ms. Jenny Angeline Poco joined the DA-SAAD NPMO in Bohol to document and assess the progress of SAAD-assisted farmer and fisherfolk organizations.

Field visits in Buenavista and Clarin highlighted thriving livelihood enterprises, strengthened organizations, and the positive impact of government support on rural communities.

The activity also underscored the vital role of development communication in capturing grassroots stories of empowerment, resilience, and sustainable development.
