In observance of the 34th National Family Week, work in government offices will be suspended starting 1:00 P.M. on Monday, September 28, 2026, pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 136 issued by the Office of the President.

Accordingly, PSU-Sta. Maria offices will operate only until 1:00 P.M. on September 28.

This observance provides government employees an opportunity to spend meaningful time with their families and celebrate the importance of family bonds.

The Lingguhang Salaysayan Organization of Pangasinan State University–Sta. Maria Campus (PSU-SM) conducted a Thanksgiving Service on 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐬-𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥, bringing together students and faculty members in a meaningful gathering of faith, gratitude, and reflection.

Spearheaded by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐋. 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐫, 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐫. 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐨 𝐓. 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨, 𝐂𝐨-𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫, the activity aimed to provide an opportunity for the PSU-SM community to pause from their academic and professional responsibilities and strengthen their spiritual well-being.

The Thanksgiving Service was organized to uplift the spiritual lives of students and faculty members, while nurturing a deeper sense of gratitude, faith, and fellowship within the campus community. It also served as a reminder of the importance of nurturing not only academic excellence but also the values and spiritual dimensions of every member of the university.

Serving as the resource speaker was 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐨 𝐂. 𝐆𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐳 𝐉𝐫., who shared meaningful insights anchored on the biblical theme from Matthew 22:37:

“𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒍 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅.”

Dr. Gutierrez emphasized the importance of placing God at the center of one's life and allowing faith, love, and gratitude to guide one's actions and relationships. His message encouraged the students and faculty members to cultivate a deeper connection with God and to embody compassion, humility, and love in their daily lives.

The gathering also provided the participants with a moment of reflection and renewal, encouraging them to remain grounded in their faith amid the challenges and demands of academic and professional life.

Through initiatives such as the Thanksgiving Service, the Lingguhang Salaysayan Organization continues to contribute to the holistic development of the PSU-SM community by creating meaningful opportunities for spiritual reflection, fellowship, and values formation.

The activity concluded with a renewed sense of gratitude and inspiration among the participants, reaffirming the importance of faith and unity in building a compassionate and values-oriented campus community.

The Local Government Unit of Lingayen, led by 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐕. 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧̃𝐞𝐝𝐚, officially recognized the continuous pursuit of research excellence and academic innovation of Pangasinan State University (PSU) President Dr. Elbert M. Galas.

Through Sangguniang Bayan 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐨. 𝟒𝟓𝟒, 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, titled ‘Commending and congratulating Dr. Elbert M. Galas, President of Pangasinan State University, for ranking 3rd among the Top 10 SUC Presidents of the Philippines who are Scopus Producers and Researchers,’ the municipal council unanimously expressed its commendation and congratulations.

Dr. Galas has been ranked 3rd among the Top 10 SUC Presidents of the Philippines who are Scopus producers and researchers, according to the GHF University Excellence ranking updated on August 13, 2026. This achievement demonstrates his dedication to research, academic excellence, innovation, and knowledge generation, and reflects his commitment to advancing the quality of higher education and research in the country.

The presence of the Main Campus of Pangasinan State University in the Municipality of Lingayen makes this achievement a particular source of pride to the municipality and its residents, further highlighting Lingayen's role as a center of higher education, research, and academic excellence.

In a sustained effort to promote environmental responsibility and maintain the pristine condition of the campus, the Pangasinan State University – Sta. Maria Campus continues to conduct its monthly Operation Clean-Up Drive (OCUD). The initiative, led by the 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 (𝐒𝐒𝐂) 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐬. 𝐉𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐧 𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐳, is conducted under the overarching leadership of 𝐃𝐫. 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐂. 𝐂𝐚𝐚𝐬𝐢, 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫.

The OCUD, now a regular fixture in the campus calendar, brings together students, faculty, and staff in a collective effort to clean and beautify the campus grounds. From picking up litter along pathways to clearing debris from gardens and common areas, the activity exemplifies the power of community action in providing a healthy and conducive learning environment.

The monthly clean-up drive has become a great help in maintaining the overall cleanliness and orderliness of the PSU-SM surroundings. With the combined efforts of different student organizations and volunteers, the campus has seen significant improvements in waste management and general sanitation. The initiative also aligns with the university's broader commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness.

As the monthly OCUD continues, the PSU-SM community remains committed to sustaining its gains and inspiring other institutions to embark on similar initiatives. The message is clear: a cleaner campus is a shared responsibility, and at PSU-SM, that responsibility is embraced with pride and purpose.

Themed "Navigating Future, Together," the celebration highlighted the university's commitment to emphasizing international understanding and collaboration among its students.

The event was held under the dynamic leadership of 𝐃𝐫. 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐂. 𝐂𝐚𝐚𝐬𝐢, 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, who emphasized the importance of youth involvement in shaping the region's destiny.

A key partner in the success of the event was the 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 (𝐒𝐒𝐂), 𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐎𝐈𝐂-𝐒𝐒𝐂 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐉𝐨𝐚𝐧𝐧 𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐳. The SSC played a pivotal role in mobilizing student participation and managing the day's activities.

The culminating day was marked by a series of meaningful and competitive activities that showcased the students' creativity and critical thinking. A poster-making contest challenged participants to visually interpret the theme, resulting in powerful artworks that depicted a united and progressive ASEAN. The pubmat (publication materials) making contest saw digital artists craft compelling infographics and social media campaigns, highlighting the importance of digital literacy in regional advocacy.

A highlight of the day was the spoken poetry competition, where students delivered moving pieces in various Philippine languages, weaving narratives of hope, identity, and a shared future. The emotions and conviction in their performances resonated deeply with the audience, underscoring the power of words to build bridges.

Adding to the festive atmosphere were colorful booths from different student organizations, each creatively displaying the culture, cuisine, and traditions of various ASEAN member states.

The ASEAN Month Culminating Day at PSU-SM was more than just a culminating activity; it was a powerful affirmation of the campus' dedication to producing globally competent and culturally sensitive graduates. As the event concluded, the theme "Navigating Future, Together" resonated not as a mere slogan, but as a collective promise from the PSU-SM community to actively contribute to a peaceful, stable, and prosperous ASEAN region.
