On May 6, 2026, representatives from the University of Rizal System (URS) paid a visit to the Occidental Mindoro State College Murtha Campus as part of an academic and institutional benchmarking activity aimed at strengthening academic collaboration and sharing of best practices among higher education institutions.

The visitors were warmly welcomed by the Campus Director, Dr. Nimfa B. Pastrana, who expressed her appreciation for the visit and emphasized the importance of fostering partnerships, innovation, and knowledge exchange in advancing quality education and community development. Faculty members from the OMSC Main Campus also accompanied the visitors throughout the activity to guide and assist them during the campus tour and laboratory visit.

As part of the tour, the delegates visited the Food Processing Laboratory, where they were accommodated by the In-Charge of the laboratory, Mr. Arvin Jonathan L. Flores. During the visit, he showcased several innovative and locally developed products, including the well-known Onion Ice Cream, Kropek, and other value-added food products produced by the campus. He also discussed the processes, research initiatives, and product development strategies behind these innovations, highlighting the institution’s commitment to food technology, agricultural advancement, and sustainable utilization of local resources.

The benchmarking activity provided the visitors with valuable insights into the university’s food processing initiatives, research innovations, and extension efforts that contribute to local agricultural development and community-based enterprise opportunities. The visit also served as an avenue for strengthening institutional linkages and promoting collaboration in research, instruction, and innovation among participating institutions.
