In preparation for their upcoming On-the-Job Training (OJT) deployment, students from the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA), Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE), and Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management (BSABM) programs of Pangasinan State University (PSU) Sta. Maria Campus underwent psychological assessment facilitated by the Admission and Guidance Services Unit.

The activity, conducted prior to the students' deployment on June 15, 2026, aimed to assess their psychological readiness and overall well-being as they prepare to engage in experiential learning and professional work environments.

Facilitated by Ms. Donna May B. Gavina, Campus Coordinator for Admission and Guidance Services, the psychological assessment utilized three standardized mental health screening tools: the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21), the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7). These instruments were administered to evaluate indicators of stress, anxiety, and depression that may affect students' adjustment and performance during their internship.

The activity was conducted in coordination with Mr. Artemio Bascos, Internship Coordinator, as part of the University's efforts to ensure that student interns are prepared not only academically and technically but also mentally and emotionally for workplace immersion.

Students were oriented on the objectives of the assessment and assured that all responses would be treated with utmost confidentiality. The screening process also enabled the Guidance Services Unit to identify students who may need additional support and counseling services before their deployment.

The initiative reflects the University's commitment to producing graduates who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resilience necessary to thrive in professional settings.

The activity aligns with the University's support for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being and SDG 4: Quality Education, promoting mental wellness and quality learning experiences among students.
