As Academic Year 2026–2027 begins, the Fisheries Science Department proudly presents its faculty members and staff who will be part of another year of learning, research, and service.

𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝐁𝐅𝐀𝐑 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝟏𝟎 𝐏𝐒𝐔 𝐁𝐢𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬, 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐬

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Fisheries Office I (BFAR-RFO I) recognized 10 graduating Fisheries Scholarship Program (FSP) beneficiaries from Pangasinan State University (PSU) Binmaley Campus during the University's Recognition Ceremony on July 22, 2026, at the Sison Auditorium.

All 10 scholars completed the Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences program, with three graduating with Latin honors in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.

Leading the awardees were Angel May Caboles Burmal and Ma. Isabella Aruelo Salomon, who both graduated Magna Cum Laude. They each received a Certificate of Recognition, a plaque, a token, a cake from the Regional Director, a Php 1,500 graduation fee allowance, and a Php 30,000 cash incentive.

Catherine Feliciano Villegas, who graduated Cum Laude, received a Certificate of Recognition, a plaque, a token, a cake, a Php 1,500 graduation fee allowance, and a Php 20,000 cash incentive.

Meanwhile, Jayson Conde, Jim Espiritu, Jenny Ferrer, Efrel Carlo Monterola, Ryan Panuncial, John Vincent Paz, and Jamicah Tello were each awarded a Certificate of Recognition, a token, a cake from the Regional Director, and a Php 1,500 graduation fee allowance.

The BFAR-RFO I delegation was headed by Regional Director Dr. Remely B. Lachica, DPA, together with Regional FSP Coordinator May Ann L. Maningding, and Provincial Fisheries Officer-Pangasinan Antonieta D. Evangelista.

Addressing the graduates, RD Lachica encouraged the scholars to view the recognition as the beginning of a greater mission to serve the fisheries sector.

"This recognition is not your finish line—it is only your starting line," she said, urging the graduates to apply their knowledge in supporting Filipino fisherfolk and advancing the sustainable management of the country's aquatic resources.

BFAR-RFO I also presented PSU Binmaley Campus with a Certificate of Appreciation for its continued partnership in implementing the Fisheries Scholarship Program, reaffirming the agency's commitment to developing future fisheries professionals through quality education and collaboration.

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬. 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐏𝐒𝐔 𝐁𝐢𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

Pangasinan State University (PSU) Binmaley Campus has strengthened its fisheries education through the upgrading of its laboratory facilities under the initiative of PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, reaffirming the University's commitment to quality instruction, research, and innovation.

The enhanced laboratory facilities now support the Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Capture Fisheries, and Fish Processing laboratories. These improvements provide students with greater opportunities for hands-on learning, practical training, and skills development while creating a more dynamic environment for teaching and research.

The laboratory upgrades reflect the University's continued investment in modern, industry-relevant learning resources that advance instruction, research, and innovation. They are also expected to strengthen extension initiatives and expand opportunities for collaborative projects that benefit both the campus and its partner communities.

Campus Executive Director Dr. Joseph B. Campit, Dean of the College of Fisheries and Environmental Sciences Dr. Lemark M. Bautista, and the entire Fisheries Science Department expressed their heartfelt gratitude to PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas for his unwavering support and commitment to enhancing the campus' laboratory facilities. They emphasized that these improvements will further elevate the quality of instruction, expand research capabilities, and better prepare students for careers in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.

Through these upgraded laboratories, PSU Binmaley continues to foster a conducive environment for experiential learning, scientific inquiry, and innovation, equipping students with the knowledge, technical expertise, and practical competencies needed to excel in fisheries and allied sciences.

In its continuous commitment to strengthening the implementation of Open and Distance e-Learning (ODeL), the Pangasinan State University - Open University Systems (PSU-OUS) has officially announced an upcoming international webinar.

The virtual event, titled "Open and Distance e-Learning (ODeL) in Advanced Higher Education: Cross-Disciplinary Practices and Challenges Among Professors," is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 8:30 A.M. (Philippine Time) via Zoom.

Highlighting the event's prominent roster of experts is Dr. Geronimo R. Rosario, an esteemed faculty member from the PSU Binmaley Campus. Dr. Rosario, who serves as an Associate Professor V and an MS Fisheries Professor for PSU-OUS, will represent the university's local expertise alongside other international and local educators.

As shown in the official promotional materials for the event, Dr. Rosario will share the stage with distinguished speakers from both the Philippines and Thailand. His co-panelists include Dr. Charlotte Amalie A. Yuson (Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Thailand), Dr. Shiena Ramos Suiza (Beacon Early Years and Learning Center, Thailand), and Dr. Jerry L. Ceballos, Jr. (PSU Lingayen Campus).

The global learning engagement is designed to feature best practices, enhance faculty understanding of emerging trends, and address the unique cross-disciplinary challenges professors face in distance learning environments. The activity also underscores the PSU Open University Systems (POUS) Model, aiming to promote continuous quality improvement and internationalization initiatives across the institution.

Insights shared by speakers like Dr. Rosario are expected to contribute significantly to the enhancement of instructional delivery, learner engagement, and academic excellence in the university's digital programs.
