π TIPS FROM SENIORS TO FRESHIES ππ
College is a whole new journey and while it may feel overwhelming at first, remember that every senior once stood exactly where you are today. Here are some practical tips to help you start your college journey with confidence!
π On Your First Week
β’ Bring your Certificate of Enrolment (COR) with you on your first day since ID cards are still being processed.
β’ If you don't have your uniform yet, a decent white shirt is usually allowed as a temporary substitute.
β’ TBA = To Be Announced (this may refer to a professor or a classroom not yet assigned).
β’ YCC = Ynares Covered Court (commonly called the Gymnasium or Court).
β’ PATHFIT = Physical Activity Towards Health and Fitness, the college equivalent of High School P.E.
π« Campus Life
β’ Keep both physical and digital copies of your important documents (Certificate of Enrolment, Form 137, Birth Certificate, and Good Moral Certificate). You'll need them for scholarships, cross-enrollment, OJT, and other transactions.
β’ URS has 10 campuses: Angono, Antipolo, Binangonan, Cardona, Cainta, Morong, Pililla, Rodriguez, Tanay, and Taytay.
β’ Be cautious of fake social media accounts pretending to represent URS or student organizations. Always verify through your Student Council or official university pages.
β’ Join at least one student organization or club to expand your network and make the most of your college experience.
β’ Learn the jeepney and tricycle routes around your campus early, especially if you're commuting.
β’ Bring a water bottle and snacks canteen lines can get long between classes.
ποΈ Know the Campus Hierarchy
Program Head
β’ Oversees a specific degree program or course.
Dean
β’ Heads an entire college or department and supervises all programs under it.
Program Head and Dean are administrative positions. The person holding these positions is also usually an Instructor or Professor by academic rank.
Instructor (Part-time)
β’ Teaches specific subjects and may only be on campus during scheduled classes.
Professor (Full-time)
β’ A regular faculty member responsible for teaching, research, extension services, and university committees.
π A Friendly Reminder
β¨ Don't compare your pace with others. Some freshmen adjust quickly, while others take an entire semester and that's completely okay.
β¨ Never be afraid to ask questions. There's no such thing as a "dumb" question when you're learning. Everyone starts somewhere. π
