๐ฆ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ โ ๐๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ถ๐น ๐ญ๐ด, ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ | The Negros Island Region League of Student Governments (NIR LSG) Convention officially opened at the Greyhound Innovation Center of Foundation University in Dumaguete City, bringing together student leaders from Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor, with the State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) Student Government among the participating institutions engaged in capacity-building and leadership development initiatives.
The opening program featured messages from the NIR LSG President, Hon. Andrew R. Estrebella and Dr. Jose Leonardo L. Degillo, Education SupervisonII from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office XVIII.
Leading the dayโs core sessions, Dr. Cesar P. Estrope delivered a talk on strategic planning, highlighting the role of student leaders in governance and the need to develop performance indicators aligned with institutional and legal standards.
A Training Needs Assessment, facilitated by Reymer Ferrer, followed to identify leadership gaps and set priorities for future initiativesโensuring programs remain relevant and impact-driven.
The State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) was represented by Student Government Executive President Hon. Heart Marie C. Salde, reflecting the universityโs active participation in advancing student leadership and governance in the region.
Capping off Day 1, a Leadership Development Training led by volunteers from Gabaan Youth Lead (GYL), under the guidance of NIR LSG Convenor Wilkens P. Abordo, emphasized active leadership, volunteerism, and community engagement.
With its foundational sessions, Day 1 set a clear tone: a more equipped, collaborative, and action-oriented network of Negrosanon student leaders.
