Objectives

Towards the achievement and fulfillment of the above vision and mission, the Library assumes responsibility for the following:

1.

Vision

A globally linked center of knowledge and information where available facilities, resources and services are effectively and efficiently integrated and accessed to inform, educate further and facilitate teaching, learning, research and transformation of students, faculty and staff through engaged, networked, matrix structured and smart information technologist. Mission

In line with the

vision of the University in general and of the Library in particular, the UE Library is committed to provide adequate, timely and relevant information resources and services to support the teaching, learning, research, extension, and cultural endeavors of the academic community. The selection, acquisition, development, organization, preservation, and dissemination of information resources in a variety of formats to support the needs of the academic community;

2. The provision of instructional assistance and promotion in the use of library resources and services by providing a user-friendly and total care environment conducive to clients’ needs;

3. The provision and arrangement of physical facilities and equipment and use of appropriate technology conducive to work, research, study and learning;

4. The establishment of appropriate linkages with other libraries and research institutions to enhance scholarly information resources and promote resource sharing;

5. The development and encouragement of qualified library staff to provide high quality services;

6. The involvement in community extension services to promote local and national developments.

Several librarians from the University of the East Department of Libraries conducted their annual outreach program at The United Church of Manila on May 13, 2026 with the theme, "Preserving Heritage with Heart: A Library-Museum Project for The United Church of Manila."

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐇'𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐲: 𝐀 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲

Labor Day in the Philippines, a public holiday on May 1, honors workers' contributions while advocating for improved conditions and fair wages. Its roots trace to the U.S. Haymarket Affair on May 4, 1886, when Chicago strikers demanding an eight-hour workday clashed violently with police after a bomb explosion, igniting a global workers' rights movement. The Philippines first observed it on May 1, 1903, and formalized it on April 8, 1908, via the Philippine Assembly under American colonial rule, addressing widespread worker exploitation at the time.

𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗨𝗘 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗𝗨𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗠𝗔𝗬

In light of the national call for energy conservation, everyone within and beyond the UE community is advised that the Four-Day Work Week schedule will take effect across offices of the University's Manila and Caloocan campuses starting in the first week of May 2026.

Specifically, UE's Manila and Caloocan offices will be open on Tuesdays to Fridays, with business hours for the general public still being 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 5 p.m.

Offices of the two UE campuses will be closed on Mondays. Thus, the University's first working day in the new month will be May 5, 2026.

Exceptions from the four-day work week are both campuses' respective Admissions Offices, which will also be open on Saturdays at the said office hours up to the coming enrollment-proper period.

This entire adjusted work week policy will be in effect until further notice.
