Personnel of Bicol University (BU) Gubat Campus were recognized for their outstanding achievements in research, development, and extension during the BU Research, Development, and Extension (RD&E) Awards 2025, showcasing the campusโ€™s strong commitment to knowledge generation, innovation, and community engagement.

Under the Publication Award, the study โ€œTechnology Demonstration of Ginger Turmeric Pandan Tea Granules: An Extension Experience of a State University in Bicol, Philippinesโ€ by Demetrio E. Castillo and Rosemarie R. Jadie was recognized for its contribution to extension work that transforms local agricultural resources into value-added products for community livelihood.

Another Publication Award was conferred for the research โ€œClientele Satisfaction on the COVID-19 Community Isolation Facility Operated by the Local Government Unit of Gubat, Sorsogon, Philippines,โ€ authored by former Dean Dr. Rosemarie R. Jadie and Maria Rechel M. Marcaida, which highlights an evidence-based evaluation of public health interventions during the pandemic.

For the Presentation Award, Rosemarie R. Jadie received Best Paper (IELL โ€“ Research Category) and Best Paper (IELL โ€“ Research Category, Sub-agenda A) for her study โ€œRole of Women in Cassava Farming in the Municipality of Gubat, Sorsogonโ€, presented during the 38th BU In-House Review of Completed RD&E Undertakings, emphasizing the vital contribution of women in local agricultural development.

Meanwhile, Dr. Gilbert E. Lopez earned multiple distinctions at the Global Research Conference (GRC) 2024, receiving Best Oral Presentation, Best Abstract, and Innovation Award for his paper โ€œSemiotic Analysis of Paradijon Pottery Making Movement as Driving Force in Creating Folk Dance Compositionsโ€, a pioneering work that bridges cultural heritage, movement analysis, and creative research.

These recognitions reflect the excellence and dedication of BU Gubat Campus personnel in advancing research, extension, and innovation that respond to community needs while contributing to national and global knowledge.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER IP AWARE BU SERYE with our Batch 3!

Another milestone in the IP AWARE BU was achieved today, April 25, 2025 at BU Gubat, Brgy. Pinontingan, Gubat, Sorsogon. Students and personnel from BU Gubat actively participated in engaging discussions, making the session dynamic and enriching especially on the topic on Copyrights and Patents. Beyond spreading awareness, attendees delved into practical use of intellectual property equipping themselves with essential knowledge to protect their creative and academic outputs like thesis, research, and extension outputs.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our esteemed Dean, Dr. Rosemarie R. Jadie, who provide an insightful story on her IP journey in Bicol University and it's impact not only on her promotions, but also in the community. A big thanks also to BU Gubat dedicated College Research Coordinator, Prof. Demetrio Castillo, whose unwavering support played a pivotal role in enriching intellectual property awareness. Your leadership continues to inspire BU Gubat students and personnel.
