In a time when our country faces many challenges, the voice of the youth has never been more important. The future of the Philippines will not only be shaped by leadersโ€”but by citizens who choose to participate, engage, and vote responsibly.

Your vote is more than a mark on a ballot. It is your voice for good governance, accountability, better opportunities, social justice, and a brighter future for every Filipino. Change begins when citizens, especially the youth, choose not to stay silent.

SorSU Sibika Hub proudly congratulates Mr. Erwin Formento, a student of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program of Sorsogon State University Graduate School and active member of SorSU Sibika Hub, for being selected as one of the 32 youth leaders from Albay and Sorsogon to participate in the 8-day training program under the Resilience, Innovation, and Sustainability for Empowered Youth (RISE) Project, where he represented SorSU Sibika Hub.

The RISE Project was officially launched last February 13, 2026, at the Peopleโ€™s Mansion and is spearheaded by the International Organization for Migration in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and YMCA of Albay. The initiative aims to empower young people to become active agents of climate action and sustainable development through leadership training, innovation, and community resilience-building.

As part of the program, Mr. Formento participated in a series of training sessions conducted on April 23โ€“25, 2026 at The Oriental Hotel in Legazpi City, Albay; April 30โ€“May 2, 2026 in Albay and Sorsogon; and May 19โ€“20, 2026 in Albay. These activities focused on climate action, leadership development, resilience-building, and sustainable community engagement among youth leaders.

Notably, the RISE Project does not only provide capacity-building interventions but also extends potential opportunities for technical and funding support for participant-led initiatives, further empowering youth leaders to develop innovative and sustainable climate adaptation projects within their respective communities.

SorSU Sibika Hub likewise extends its sincere acknowledgment and gratitude to the Sorsogon State University Administration, led by Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, for its continued support and encouragement toward youth development, leadership initiatives, and community engagement programs that empower students and young leaders to actively participate in nation-building and climate action.

๐ŸŒโœจ Together, let us continue empowering the youth toward a resilient, innovative, and sustainable future.

SorSU Sibika Hub Joins SPYDC 1st Quarterly Meeting to Strengthen Youth Engagement

Sorsogon State University (SorSU), through the Sibika Hub, reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment through active participation in the 1st Quarterly Meeting of the Sorsogon Provincial Youth Development Council (SPYDC) held on March 28, 2026, at the Peopleโ€™s Mansion, Provincial Capitol Compound.

Representing the university, Planning Officer II Mary Dean B. Cimanes of the SorSU SIBIKA Hub joined youth leaders and stakeholders in advancing key initiatives for youth development and governance.

Presided over by SK Provincial Federation President Karl Max H. Lozada, the meeting gathered 20 council members to deliberate on priority initiatives presented by Provincial Youth Development Officer Julius E. Edma. Discussions focused on the current composition of the SPYDC, the status of the Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP), and the implementation of the 2026 programs of the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO).

Through this engagement, SorSU strengthens its role in youth governance and ensures alignment of collaborative initiatives with its FY 2026 plansโ€”promoting youth awareness and civic engagement.

Planning ahead for a more empowered and engaged youth ๐Ÿ’™

On March 24, 2026, the Sorsogon State University (SorSU) Sibika Hub Team, represented by Dr. Catherine A. De Castro and Dr. Errol De Castro, met with Mr. Julius Edma and Mr. Meljun Mendoza from the Office of the Sorsogon Provincial Youth Development Officer (SPYDO) to discuss the priority directions and key activities for FY 2026.

This initiative is a partnership between Sorsogon State University and the Provincial Government of Sorsogon, which began in 2024, strengthening collaboration for youth-focused community programs.

As part of its support for youth development, Sorsogon State University continues to strengthen partnerships and extend its expertise beyond the campus through the Sibika Hubโ€”empowering young people and supporting the formation of socially responsible citizens.

Building on this commitment, the Sibika Hub will roll out Democracy Talks, forums, and workshops anchored on the following thematic areas:

โ€ข Restorative Practices and Youth Empowerment
โ€ข AI Awareness and Responsible Digital Citizenship
โ€ข Youth Mental Health and Well-being
โ€ข Adolescent Health and Youth-Friendly Services
โ€ข Voter Education and Active Citizenship

Through these initiatives, SorSU aims to promote informed participation and support the development of responsible and engaged youth in the Province of Sorsogon. โœจ

๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’™ Sharing Hope, One Gift at a Time ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŽ

Last December 20, 2025, a meaningful Gift-Giving Activity was conducted at Bahay Pag-asa in Sorsogon City for Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL). The activity was organized by the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) under the leadership of Mr. Julius Edma, Sorsogon Provincial Youth Development Officer, in collaboration with SK Federation President of the Province of Sorsogon, Hon. Karl Marx Lozada.

The event was made even more meaningful through the special participation of the SorSU Sibika Hub, represented by Dr. Catherine A. De Castro and Dr. Errol G. De Castro, as partners came together to share gifts, encouragement, and moments of care with the youth. More than the gifts, the activity emphasized compassion, guidance, and the importance of second chances for every young person.

Our sincere appreciation to all organizers and partners for bringing hope and positivity to the youth of Bahay Pag-asa. Together, we continue to build a more inclusive and caring community. ๐Ÿ’ซ

Naumpisahan na nga ito ng mga kasama natin sa FAITH Colleges: First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities Sibika Hub at ng One South Luzon Coalition para sa kanilang voterโ€™s education sessions, pati ng BALAGDIWA: North Luzon Youth Leaders Network at University of the Cordilleras (Northern Luzon Sibika Hub) para sa kanilang civic education initiatives, at ng Western Mindanao State University (WMSU Sibika Hub) at USAD Ka-ZamPen.

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ Maaari ka ring maging miyembro ng online Professional Learning Community, kasama ang mga civic education champions: https://www.facebook.com/groups/civicedplc

Tuluy-tuloy ang pag-tanglaw para sa kinabukasang daserb nating lahat. โœจ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ
