𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐒𝐔 𝐒𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐇𝐮𝐛 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

SorSU Sibika Hub actively participated in the Sorsoganon Youth Summit 2026 held on September 23, 2026, at the Sorsogon Provincial Gymnasium, with the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.” The youth summit was organized by the Province of Sorsogon through the Office of the Provincial Youth Development Officer, in coordination with the Provincial Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation and the Sorsogon Provincial Youth Development Council (SPYDC), in celebration of International Youth Day, National Youth Day, and Linggo ng Kabataan 2026.

The SorSU Sibika Hub team was represented by Dr. Catherine A. De Castro, Dr. Errol G. De Castro, and Dr. Susan F. Astillero, together with MPA students Mr. Jonnel Bolaño and Ms. Bellie Jane Bravo, and members of the Planning Management Office (PLMO)—Engr. Cindy Deocareza, Ms. Mary Dean Cimanes, Ms. Janine Bitara, and Ms. Jessica Benig.

Joining the delegation were members of the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) of SorSU Laboratory High School, accompanied by Mr. Marion Vincent Oro, giving the student leaders an opportunity to actively engage with fellow young people, government institutions, and youth-serving organizations.

Adding to the meaningful program was Dr. Catherine A. De Castro, who served as a resource speaker during Session 3: “Education in the Modern World,” where she shared insights on the changing landscape of education and the importance of preparing young people for an increasingly dynamic world.

SorSU Sibika Hub also took part in the Kabataan Serbisyo Caravan, connecting with various organizations and institutions dedicated to providing programs and services for the youth.

Through its continued participation in youth-centered initiatives, SorSU Sibika Hub strengthens its commitment to civic engagement, youth empowerment, and meaningful participation in community and public affairs.

The Sorsogon State University (SorSU), through the Sibika Hub, participated in the 3rd Quarterly Meeting of the Sorsogon Provincial Youth Development Council (SPYDC) held on September 10, 2026, at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall.

The meeting was spearheaded by Mr. Karl Marx Lozada, President of the Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan ng Sorsogon, and brought together key stakeholders committed to advancing youth development in the province.

Also present were Mr. Julius E. Edma, Provincial Youth Development Officer, as well as the presidents and representatives of various youth organizations and youth-serving organizations in Sorsogon.

As a member of the Provincial Youth Development Council, SorSU Sibika Hub was represented by its Project Director, Dr. Catherine A. De Castro, who actively participated in the discussions and collaborative planning for programs and initiatives responsive to the needs of Sorsogon’s youth.

A major agenda of the meeting was the formulation of the Provincial Youth Development Plan (PYDP) 2027–2029, which will serve as a strategic guide in developing programs and projects that promote the welfare, aspirations, participation, and potential of the youth.

Through its active engagement in the SPYDC, SorSU Sibika Hub reaffirms its commitment to strengthening youth participation, civic engagement, and collaborative governance toward meaningful and sustainable youth development in Sorsogon.

The 𝗨𝗡 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 - 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀, together with the Youth Solutions Network, the UN SDG Youth Council Philippines, and the Global Youth Program presents the 𝗨𝗡 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. SorSU Sibika Hub proudly congratulates Mr. Erwin Formento, a student of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program of Sorsogon State University Graduate School and active member of SorSU Sibika Hub, for being selected as one of the 32 youth leaders from Albay and Sorsogon to participate in the 8-day training program under the Resilience, Innovation, and Sustainability for Empowered Youth (RISE) Project, where he represented SorSU Sibika Hub.

The RISE Project was officially launched last February 13, 2026, at the People’s Mansion and is spearheaded by the International Organization for Migration in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and YMCA of Albay. The initiative aims to empower young people to become active agents of climate action and sustainable development through leadership training, innovation, and community resilience-building.

As part of the program, Mr. Formento participated in a series of training sessions conducted on April 23–25, 2026 at The Oriental Hotel in Legazpi City, Albay; April 30–May 2, 2026 in Albay and Sorsogon; and May 19–20, 2026 in Albay. These activities focused on climate action, leadership development, resilience-building, and sustainable community engagement among youth leaders.

Notably, the RISE Project does not only provide capacity-building interventions but also extends potential opportunities for technical and funding support for participant-led initiatives, further empowering youth leaders to develop innovative and sustainable climate adaptation projects within their respective communities.

SorSU Sibika Hub likewise extends its sincere acknowledgment and gratitude to the Sorsogon State University Administration, led by Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, for its continued support and encouragement toward youth development, leadership initiatives, and community engagement programs that empower students and young leaders to actively participate in nation-building and climate action.

SorSU Sibika Hub Joins SPYDC 1st Quarterly Meeting to Strengthen Youth Engagement

Sorsogon State University (SorSU), through the Sibika Hub, reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment through active participation in the 1st Quarterly Meeting of the Sorsogon Provincial Youth Development Council (SPYDC) held on March 28, 2026, at the People’s Mansion, Provincial Capitol Compound.

Representing the university, Planning Officer II Mary Dean B. Cimanes of the SorSU SIBIKA Hub joined youth leaders and stakeholders in advancing key initiatives for youth development and governance.

Presided over by SK Provincial Federation President Karl Max H. Lozada, the meeting gathered 20 council members to deliberate on priority initiatives presented by Provincial Youth Development Officer Julius E. Edma. Discussions focused on the current composition of the SPYDC, the status of the Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP), and the implementation of the 2026 programs of the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO).

Through this engagement, SorSU strengthens its role in youth governance and ensures alignment of collaborative initiatives with its FY 2026 plans—promoting youth awareness and civic engagement.
