The activity highlighted the studentsโ€™ active participation, leadership, and commitment to a fair and democratic election process within the university community. Students from different programs took part in casting their votes to elect deserving student leaders who will serve the campus for the academic year.

The Commission on Student Elections ensured an orderly, peaceful, and transparent voting process throughout the day.

North Eastern Mindanao State Universityโ€“San Miguel Campus successfully conducted the Miting De Avance 2026 on May 13, 2026, at the HE training center. The event served as a platform for student candidates to present their goals, platforms, and advocacies for the upcoming student elections.

The program formally opened with welcome remarks from Allan S. Compe, Department Chair of BTLED, who encouraged students to participate wisely and responsibly in the electoral process.

An inspirational message was also delivered by Marlon M. Garriguez, Assistant Campus Director, who emphasized the importance of leadership, integrity, and service among aspiring student leaders.

Following this, Kurt James M. Hayahay, USG President, introduced the members of the COMSELEC who facilitated the event and ensured an organized and fair election process.

One of the highlights of the program was the Platform Presentation, where each aspiring student leader confidently shared their plans, programs, and commitments for the students of the BTLED, BSA, and BSF departments. The candidates highlighted the values of unity, transparency, responsibility, and active service to the student body.

An Open Mic Session was also conducted, giving students the opportunity to express their thoughts, raise questions, and interact directly with the candidates.

In recognition of their dedication and service, certificates were awarded to the COMSELEC members and BTLED Program Officers. The event concluded with closing remarks from Kurt James M. Hayahay, followed by important announcements from the COMSELEC Committee.

Miting De Avance 2026 became a meaningful and successful event that promoted leadership, student participation, and democratic values within the university community. It also allowed students to become more informed and inspired in choosing leaders who are capable of serving with honesty, dedication, and action.

The North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) San Miguel Campus successfully conducted the Stakeholdersโ€™ Consultative Meeting for the proposed Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BS Entrep) Program for Academic Year 2027โ€“2028 on May 06, 2026, at the ICT Building.

The event officially started with an opening prayer, followed by the Opening Message led by Dr. Marlon M. Garrigues, PhD, Assistant Campus Director, who warmly welcomed all guests, participants, and stakeholders.

The Acknowledgement of Participants was led by Tetchie Rafael, Administrative Officer V, recognizing the presence of the, faculty members, stakeholders, and honored guests who attended the event.

Among the distinguished guests present were Sheila A. Buniel, representing Mayor Michael T. Corilla; Edilberto F. Luib, Community Representative; Joshua Lumanao representing Brgy. Captain of Caromata, Hon. Raquel R. Lobaton; and Dr. Ramel D. Tomaquin, CBM Dean.

The rationale and presentation of the proposed curriculum were facilitated by Dr. Bautista, Curriculum Development Head, who discussed the objectives, relevance, and expected outcomes of the proposed program.

The presentation highlighted the universityโ€™s commitment to producing future entrepreneurs equipped with innovative thinking, business knowledge, and leadership skills.

An open forum followed, giving stakeholders the opportunity to raise questions, provide feedback, and share recommendations regarding the proposed curriculum.

The session concluded with a closing remarks delivered by Gilbert G. Gawat, MBA, Interim Program Chair, who expressed appreciation to everyone for their valuable time, participation, and unwavering support for the proposed program.

Ma. Quennie R. Ajoc, a third-year BTLED student representing NEMSU San Miguel Campus, secured a top spot after being declared as Best in Pitching in Culinary Technology Category during the conducted TechnoFair 2026, on May 6, 2026 at the NEMSU Cantilan Campus.

Ajoc stood out as the premier presenter in a competitive line-up of 15 participants. Her victory was witnessed and supported by her mentor, Mrs. Daisy E. Salas, alongside NEMSU-SMC faculty and staff member Mr. Daniel L. Tacbas, MAST, and Mr. Jason B. Maca.

This victory is not merely a personal milestone for Ajoc but a significant achievement for the NEMSU San Miguel Campus. By securing the top spot in a university-wide competition, the campus has highlighted its excellence in technical-vocational presentation and innovation.

North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) San Miguel Campus successfully conducted a campus-wide tree caring activity on April 29, 2026, in support of the Office of the Vice Presidentโ€™s โ€œPagbaBAGo: A Million Trees Campaign.โ€ The event, formally mandated through Office Order No. 04-97, brought together the entire academic community, including faculty, staff, and students, to participate in this environmental preservation effort.

The activity began at 6:00 AM and focused on the maintenance and nurturing of existing saplings to ensure the long-term success of the regional reforestation project. Officials from the Office of the Vice President โ€“ CARAGA, spearheaded by Mr. Mamal Basalan, led the operations by providing technical guidance and facilitating the logistics of the activity.

Participants arrived equipped with bolos and other necessary gardening tools, demonstrating a unified commitment to ecological sustainability. Through these hands-on efforts, the university highlighted its dedication to environmental stewardship and its support for the broader goals of the national greening program.

Under the leadership of OIC Campus Director Marvie V. Gonzaga, EdD, and Assistant Campus Director Marlon M. Garrigues, PhD, the activity concluded as a meaningful contribution to the universityโ€™s mission of environmental responsibility.

With the theme โ€œFrom Analysis to Action: Policy Brief Development, Strategic Communication, and Scopus Publication,โ€ the training gathered faculty members, researchers, and students to deepen their understanding of transforming research into actionable policies.

NutriSOYASMS Agri-Enterprise team from North Eastern Mindanao State University โ€“ San Miguel Campus proudly represented Region XIII โ€“ Caraga in the National Young Farmer Challenge Intercollegiate Level Season 5 held from April 19 to 23, 2026. The national event took place in Grand Xing Imperial Hotel, Iloilo City and gathered innovators across the country for a series of business pitching competitions and agribusiness-focused activities.

The team competed under the Intercollegiate Level Pitching Competition, presenting their innovative product, Soyamilk, an agribusiness-based food innovation aimed at promoting healthy and sustainable plant-based alternatives.

The student participants from NutriSOYASMS were Jan Rix M. Sabiaga, AJ Mae B. Mosquiter, and Kathleen Cristy A. Sequira. They were guided and coached by Jocelyn P. Serrano, MSCS, who supported the team throughout their preparation and participation in the national stage.

The YFC Season 5 competition featured three major categories: YFC Start-Up, YFC Upscale, and YFC Intercollegiate, highlighting different stages of business development from emerging entrepreneurs to advanced student-led enterprises. Alongside the competition, alumni of the program also participated, sharing insights and experiences in agribusiness development.

The event was led by the YFC regional program management team in coordination with the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office XIII โ€“ AMAS. Key officials present included Lynn A. Pareรฑas, Chief of AMAD; Clarence A. Malbasias, Agriculturist II; Julius M. De Villa, Market Specialist I; Elmera R. Lansang, Market Specialist I; and Normandy B. Idea, Market Specialist I, who provided support and oversight for the programโ€™s implementation.

The five-day gathering also featured several major activities, including the Opening Ceremony, YFC Start-Up National Business Pitch Competition, YFC Upscale National Business Pitch Competition, Business Innovation Tour, YFC Intercollegiate National Business Pitch Competition, YFC Summit and Business Conference, and the culminating YFC Season 5 National Level Awarding Ceremony.

The participation of NutriSOYASMS highlights the growing involvement of young innovators from Mindanao in national agribusiness competitions, showcasing their commitment to food innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable agricultural development.
