The two-day ๐“๐ž๐œ๐ก๐๐ข๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ: ๐“๐ž๐œ๐ก๐ง๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ ๐ฒ ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž ๐จ๐ง ๐…๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐ž๐ ๐“๐Ž๐…๐” successfully concluded today, April 16, 2026, at the Center for Food Technology and Research (CFTR), marking another milestone in the Universityโ€™s continuing efforts to promote food innovation and community empowerment.

Implemented through the partnership of TSU-CFTR and MSWD La Paz, the program brought together members of KALIPI from La Paz, Tarlac for an intensive seminar-training focused on fortified tofu production and value-added food processing technologies.

During the training, participants were equipped with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in improved tofu processing methods, sanitation and hygienic practices, quality assurance systems, and techniques for enhancing the nutritional and sensory attributes of tofu products. The activity aimed to provide participants with competencies that may support livelihood development and entrepreneurial opportunities in their communities.

The event was also graced by the ๐•๐ข๐œ๐ž ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก, ๐ˆ๐ง๐ง๐จ๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐„๐ฑ๐ญ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง, ๐€๐ญ๐ญ๐ฒ. ๐–๐ข๐ฅ๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ค ๐‰. ๐‘๐š๐ฆ๐จ๐ฌ, who congratulated the participants for successfully completing the training course. In his message, he reaffirmed the Universityโ€™s commitment to advancing food technology, strengthening innovation among MSMEs, community partners, and researchers, and pursuing future collaborations and technology transfer initiatives aligned with its mandate.

The training features fortified tofu technology, which aims to improve conventional tofu by enhancing its nutritional value and sensory quality. Participants are introduced to controlled processing techniques, hygienic practices, and quality assurance measures essential in producing nutritious, high-quality, and food safety-compliant tofu products.

Through this initiative, the Center continues to advance innovation, community development, and technology transfer by equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills that support sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The meeting began with Atty. Wilmark J. Ramos, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, presenting the agenda and strategic directions, setting the context for office and center presentations that showcased performance, challenges, and priority initiatives.

Updates on research and development were presented by the Office of University Research and Development through Ms. Angel Mikaela Z. Noveda, representing Dr. Robert V. Marcos, while university extension accomplishments and targets were discussed by Engr. Emir Lenard S.F. Sicangco of the Office of University Extension Services. Innovation, intellectual property, and commercialization initiatives were highlighted by Atty. Jayriz D. Dungca of the Office of Innovation and Business Development.
Center-level accomplishments and plans were presented by Dr. Cynthia G. Quiambao (CCLGSPD), Dr. Maria Elena D. David (CPIPRD), Engr. Veronica Joy David and Dr. Murphy P. Mohammed (CEER), Prof. Geraldine G. Villanueva (CNPR), Dr. Leo P. Piao (CSET), and Mr. Bill Henry A. Ramiterre, representing Dr. Lea B. Milan (CFTR). The presentations reflected a wide range of initiatives in research productivity, community engagement, technology development, and capacity-building.

The meeting concluded with the discussion of other matters, particularly the proposed amendments to revisions in the OIBD Manual and ended with a strong sense of unity and commitment among OVPRIE offices and centers toward sustained performance and institutional impact.
