Tarlac State University strengthened its standing in the 2026 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) after climbing to the 191st spot in the Global Top 500 Innovative Universities from its previous 256th rank.
Based on the official category results released by WURI, several university initiatives earned recognition across different innovation categories.
Among the universityโs recognized entries is the โ๐๐ผ๐ป๐๐๐น๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต (๐๐๐ฅ๐) ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ฑ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ผ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฟ๐น๐ฎ๐ฐโ under the category C2 - Interdisciplinary, Convergent, and Integrated Research, where TSU placed 36th globally. Implemented by the Center for Community and Local Governance Studies and Policy Development (CCLGSPD), the program provides multidisciplinary support to LGUs in strengthening child protection mechanisms through research, policy development, legal assistance, psychological support, and capacity-building initiatives.
TSU also secured the 56th rank in the category A1 - Student Support and Engagement through the โ๐ฆ๐ฃ๐๐ฅ๐: ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐๐ & ๐๐ป๐ผ๐๐น๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ด๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐น๐-๐๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐โ program of the Office of Student Affairs and Services - International, Differently-Abled, Indigenous, and Marginalized Student Services (IDIMSS). The initiative established a student-led academic hub that offers free printing services, computer access, internet connectivity, and disability rights awareness activities for differently-abled students.
TSU also earned the 64th global rank in the category C3 - Curricular Innovation for Future-Readiness through ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐จ๐๐จ๐ ๐ฎ.๐ฌ (๐๐ถ๐ณ๐, ๐จ๐ฝ๐น๐ถ๐ณ๐, ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ, ๐จ๐ป๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ, ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐) of the Office of Graduate Studies and the College of Education. Implemented in partnership with the Tarlac South A District schools, the initiative focuses on strengthening teachersโ professional development through training workshops, mentoring programs, leadership development, action research, and the integration of 21st-century learning approaches to improve classroom instruction and educational outcomes.
Meanwhile, the university ranked 79th worldwide in C6 - Inclusive Social Innovation for the Underserved through the โ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐ด๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฎ ๐๐๐น๐๐ป๐ด๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐๐ฎ ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐๐ธ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ป (๐๐๐): ๐๐บ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ ๐ง๐ต๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ด๐ต ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ปโ program of the College of Public Administration and Governance (CPAG). The initiative provides incarcerated women at the BJMP Tarlac City Jail Female Dormitory access to higher education through the Bachelor of Public Administration program as part of rehabilitation and reintegration efforts.
The official results of WURI 2026 were announced during the 6th Hanseatic League of Universities Conference held at National Chi Nan University from May 6 to 8. The detailed category rankings and corresponding innovative programs were formally communicated to participating universities by the WURI Secretariat on May 11, 2026.
