Long overdue appreciation post:
Some of you may have heard about the upcoming event we will be hosting this September 9 in Tayabas featuring K-Leb. It is easy to assume that anything you read from this page is just marketing BS just to sell tickets, and justifiably so. Kami yung organizer eh.
But let me share a few words.
Our first encounter was the Lokalidad Tour in Bicol, pre pandemic "era." Lumagare kami ng tatlong city covering 2 provinces kasama ang buong Lokalidad crew.
No one can deny his talent (I learned he creates most of his beats, even mixes and masters for other artists). But the most impactful, for me, was his altruism; his ability to selflessly let other artist shine on and off stage.
*Check this video I shot of Ron Henley's Hagdan (from Lokalidad Tour) https://youtu.be/iDzi3DLvohA?si=kQrIa7HseVazL2VK
It was an awe inspiring experience. I discovered an artist previously off my radar. "This is one of the reasons I do what I do."
Fast forward post pandemic. Rodel and I got to talking (forgive me for not sharing what started our first convo, hahaha). But long story short, he made me entertain the idea of getting back to doing events again.
"Bakit si K-Leb?"
"Di namin kilala yan."
"Kilala ko si OG [Sacred] pero si K-Leb, napanood ko lang minsan sa Wish [107.5]."
I heard these lines (and versions of the same context) more than a couple of times. These are not taken negatively, because I know a secret.
"K-Leb is one of the most underrated artist na humahataw ngayon."
We spent nights (literally 'til the break of dawn) talking about music, our aspirations, inspirations; our common goal to inspire people with the things we do and are passionate about.
Listen, and listen well to the messages embedded on his songs.
You don't have to be one of the first to support an inspiring local act.
Just...
listen.
