Day 2 | C3P3 RWC Monitoring Skills Workshop 🌿

Earlier today, our delegates visited our partner Indigenous Peoples community in Limpapa for a meaningful site visit and community dialogue.

The visit provided an opportunity for our delegates to learn directly from the local community about their existing monitoring processes, mechanisms, and strategies in managing and protecting their environment.

More than just sharing knowledge, the site visit highlighted the value of listening to and learning from communities whose experiences and practices are deeply rooted in their land and way of life.

🌱 Day 1 | Care for Creation and Pillar 3 – Reconciliation with Creation Monitoring Skills Workshop

A meaningful day of learning, sharing, and strengthening our collective commitment to caring for our common home. 🌿

Day 1 brought together delegates from the Jesuit Ecology Program Cambodia, JRS Myanmar, Archdiocese of Semarang Indonesia, Ateneo de Naga University, Apu Paluwagan Center Bukidnon, JCAP, and JRS Philippines – Iligan for a day of reflection, knowledge-sharing, and skills-building.

The sessions led by Ms. Welma Omboy and Mr. Raymond Ong provided participants with valuable insights and practical tools for strengthening our understanding and practice of ecological stewardship and monitoring as well as sharings from our delegates.

Through these shared learning spaces, we continue to build our capacity to translate ecological commitment into meaningful action, accountability, and collaboration for the care of our common home. 💚🌏

Together, we learn. Together, we act. Together, we care for creation.

🌏 ACES Corner | Monthly Monitoring: Upland Restoration Efforts in Barangay Patalon

On September 15, 2026, another monitoring and assessment activity was conducted by the C3P3 SIEMBRA Project, through the Ateneo Center for Environment and Sustainability (ACES), in the upland areas of Barangay Patalon. The visit focused on assessing the survival, growth, and overall condition of the trees planted within the restoration site as part of the project’s continuing monitoring efforts.

The monitoring team recorded a high survival rate among the planted trees, with many showing healthy growth and continued establishment. Several trees have also attained notable height, indicating positive progress in the restoration area despite the environmental challenges affecting the site.

Through C3P3 SIEMBRA, ACES continues to support community-led ecosystem restoration while fostering long-term stewardship and care for creation. 🌱🌿

🌏 ACES Corner | Monthly Monitoring: Tree Restoration Efforts in Barangay Labuan

On September 15, 2026, the C3P3 SIEMBRA Project, through the Ateneo Center for Environment and Sustainability (ACES), conducted its regular assessment and monitoring of the planted trees in the restoration areas of Barangay Labuan. The activity focused on assessing the survival, growth, and overall condition of the planted trees as part of the project’s continuing restoration efforts.

The monitoring team observed a high survival rate among the planted trees, with several trees already reaching more than one meter in height. This promising growth reflects the successful establishment of the planted trees and the continued care and maintenance provided by the community.

The continued growth and survival of the trees in Barangay Labuan demonstrate the value of consistent monitoring and community participation in advancing ecosystem restoration. Through C3P3 SIEMBRA, the project continues to nurture both restored landscapes and empowered communities committed to the long-term care and protection of creation. 🌱🌿

ATM: ASEAN HERITAGE PARKS FORUM 2026

The Ateneo Center for Environment and Sustainability joins fellow environmental advocates, protected area managers, conservation practitioners, and partners from across the ASEAN region for Day 1 of the ASEAN Heritage Parks (AHP) Forum 2026, held at Seda Vertis North, Quezon City.

Carrying the theme “Navigating a Sustainable Future for ASEAN Heritage Parks,” the forum brings together diverse voices and experiences toward strengthening biodiversity conservation, protected area management, and regional cooperation.

From Mindanao to the wider ASEAN region, we continue to believe that environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility, one strengthened through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and collective action.

𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐒 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠

The PhilSA Integrated Network for Space-Enabled Actions towards Sustainability (PINAS) Project strengthened its partnership with the academe through the signing of agreements with 11 universities nationwide during .

The partnerships aim to equip academic institutions with the knowledge and skills to harness space science and technology applications for education, research, extension, and other initiatives that benefit their communities.

PhilSA Acting Director General Gay Jane P. Perez, Ph.D. signed the agreements with Aklan State University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Cagayan State University-Carig Campus, Caraga State University, Central Luzon State University, Central Mindanao University, Marinduque State University, Palawan State University, University of Antique, Visayas State University, and Western Philippines University.

Following the signing, a two-day capacity-building training on Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) was conducted to support the integration of space science and technology into higher education.

Through these partnerships, PINAS seeks to enhance the capability of academic institutions to utilize space-based technologies and data for insights, research, and community-based solutions. 🌏🛰️
