Three (3) faculty members from the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) Department of Chemistry participated in the 40th Philippine Chemistry Congress and 17th Eurasia Conference held on June 10–12, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia.
With the theme, “Solving Tomorrow’s Problems Today with Chemistry,” the congress brought together chemists, researchers, professionals, and students from across the country and beyond to explore cutting-edge research and innovations, gain insights from distinguished local and international speakers, and foster meaningful collaborations within the chemical community.
Associate Professor Jayson T. Francisco presented the research entitled, “ZamPen Native Chicken: Chemical Approaches for Collaboration and Sustainable Food Innovation” emerging from the outputs of the NICER Program while Dr. Ruel B. Cayona presented the research “On the Thermodynamic Feasibility of Peroxyacetyl-Phosphorus Monoxide Adduct Formation: A Comparative DFT Study with Peroxyacetyl Nitrate.”
Completing the WMSU representatives was Dr. Reynante E. Autida, Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Research Development and Evaluation Center (RDEC).
The participation of the WMSU representatives reflects the University’s continuing commitment to research excellence, innovation, and active engagement with the scientific community. On the final day of the congress, WMSU Chemistry alumni and faculty members gathered for a photo opportunity, celebrating their shared connection and contributions to the field of chemistry.
