𝗖𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗘 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘂𝗺

The College of Science, Information Technology, and Engineering (CSITE) successfully organized the 2nd CSITE Research Colloquium on April 16, 2026, held at the Celebrity Hall, Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City. This was followed by the Day 2 CSITE Faculty Workshop on April 17, 2026, at the Tee King Hall, Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU), with the theme “Innovating Science and Technology: Connecting Ideas, Empowering Communities.”

Day 1 of the colloquium was filled with meaningful insights and notable research presentations. The event opened with remarks from Fr. Rene C. Tacastacas SJ, Vice President for Higher Education, who highlighted the Jesuit mission of Sapientia et Eloquentia (Wisdom and Eloquence), emphasizing the importance of asking the right questions in the service of the community. This was followed by the keynote address of Dr. Ryan Ebardo, who encouraged participants to embrace change, remain curious, and take an active role in shaping the future of research and learning. A message of support was delivered by Ricardo J. Apolinario III, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations Services, underscoring that the true value of innovation lies in its service to the community. The morning session concluded with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the poster presentations. At the same time, the afternoon featured parallel sessions for oral presentations that fostered engaging discussions and shared learning among participants. Day 1 brought together researchers, educators, and students in a dynamic exchange of ideas—highlighting innovation, collaboration, and the impact of research in addressing real-world challenges. The event also recognized outstanding research contributions.

Day 2 of the colloquium shifted its focus toward empowering faculty through research development. The workshop opened with remarks from Dr. Jocelyn D. Partosa, Dean of CSITE, who emphasized that the publication workshop is a direct response to the college’s goal of strengthening and sustaining its research and publication portfolio. The morning and afternoon sessions were facilitated by Dr. Ryan Ebardo, keynote speaker, who introduced Session 1: The Publication Ecosystem, highlighting the importance of research in driving knowledge, innovation, and real-world impact. The afternoon session began with an energizing icebreaker by Ms. Ashley Valdenibro, followed by Session 2: Qualitative Research Approach, Session 3: Quantitative Research Approach, and the final session on Systematic Review. These sessions equipped faculty with essential skills in research design and synthesis, fostering meaningful discussions and continuous learning. The workshop concluded with closing remarks from Engr Janet G. Tan, Chair of the 2nd CSITE Research Colloquium, who reminded everyone that “Research is, at its heart, the engine of growth… and it begins by accepting that it will not be easy.”

This marked the successful conclusion of a meaningful two-day journey of research, learning, and collaboration—further strengthening CSITE’s commitment to innovation and academic excellence. CSITE extends its sincere gratitude for the enriching two days of learning, networking, and celebrating the presence and impact of research within the community. The experience has not only deepened knowledge but also fostered stronger connections and a shared sense of purpose among participants. As we move forward, the College looks ahead with enthusiasm to the 3rd CSITE Research Colloquium, continuing its mission to inspire, connect, and empower through research.
