Turning Knowledge into Impact
Dr. Faisal Shahzad, Associate Professor/Head, Department of Management Sciences, COMSATS University Islamabad, Attock Campus, recently conducted an engaging session with students on “Turning Knowledge into Impact.”
The session focused on encouraging students to move beyond acquiring academic knowledge and think about how their knowledge and skills can be applied to address real-world challenges. Dr. Faisal Shahzad emphasized that university education should not only prepare students for employment but also empower them to become problem-solvers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and responsible contributors to society.
During the session, students were encouraged to observe their surroundings and identify meaningful problems in areas such as:
• Social challenges affecting communities and quality of life
• Economic issues related to employment, financial inclusion, productivity, and entrepreneurship
• Environmental challenges including sustainability, waste management, resource efficiency, and climate-related concerns
• Governance issues involving transparency, service delivery, institutional efficiency, and accountability
The session also highlighted two distinct opportunities for students to unlock their potential: Raasta PIDE for developing research and policy-oriented ideas, and SSBC (Student Startup Business Centre) Attock campus for transforming innovative ideas into entrepreneurial ventures.
