قومی یکجہتی اور انسدادِ انتہا پسندی پر سیمینار منعقد
پنجاب ہائیر ایجوکیشن کمیشن کے زیراہتمام مارچ تا مئی 2026 کی تقریبات کے سلسلے میں ایک اہم قومی سیمینار دی اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی آف بہاولپور میں منعقد ہوا۔ سیمینار کا موضوع “فکر اقبال اور عصر حاضر کے تقاضے: قومی یکجہتی، امن اور انسدادِ انتہا پسندی” تھا۔

تقریب کی سرپرستی وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد کامران اور ڈین فیکلٹی آف اسلامک اینڈ عریبک اسٹڈیز پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن نے کی۔ سیمینار صدر شعبہ ادیانِ عالم و بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی و فوکل پرسن تقریبات ڈاکٹر سجیلہ کوثر کی نگرانی میں منعقد ہوا، جبکہ مقررِ خصوصی پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روزینہ انجم، سابق صدر شعبہ فارسی زبان و ادب تھیں۔نظامت کے فرائض ڈاکٹر زوہیب احمد، اسسٹنٹ پروفیسر شعبہ ادیان عالم و بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی نے ادا کیے۔

پروگرام کا باقاعدہ آغاز تلاوت قرآن مجید سے ہوا جس کی سعادت شعبہ کے بی ایس کے طالب علم محمد ریاض نے حاصل کی۔جبکہ ہدیہ نعت شعبہ کے پی ایچ ڈی طالب علم محمد یاسر گورداسپوری نے پیش کیا۔ڈاکٹر سجیلہ کوثر نے حاضرین کو خوش آمدید کہتے ہوئے سپاس نامہ پیش کیا اور کہا کہ ایسے علمی و فکری اجتماعات نہ صرف طلبہ و اساتذہ کی فکری تربیت کا ذریعہ بنتے ہیں بلکہ معاشرے میں ہم آہنگی اور رواداری کے فروغ میں بھی کلیدی کردار ادا کرتے ہیں۔

مقررِ خصوصی پروفیسر ڈاکٹر روزینہ انجم نے اپنے خطاب میں کہا کہ فکرِ اقبال ہمیں خودی، اتحاد اور مثبت عمل کا درس دیتی ہے، جس کی روشنی میں ہم عصر حاضر کے چیلنجز، خصوصاً انتہا پسندی، کا مؤثر مقابلہ کر سکتے ہیں۔” انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ نوجوان نسل کو چاہیے کہ وہ تحقیق، مکالمے اور برداشت کو اپنا شعار بنائیں تاکہ ایک پرامن اور مضبوط معاشرہ تشکیل دیا جا سکے۔

اس موقع پر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر شیخ شفیق الرحمن نے کہا کہ قومی یکجہتی کا فروغ وقت کی اہم ضرورت ہے، اور جامعات کو چاہیے کہ وہ اس ضمن میں اپنا کردار مزید مؤثر انداز میں ادا کریں۔ انہوں نے یہ اظہار بھی کیا کہ ایسے پروگرامز کے تسلسل سے معاشرے میں مثبت تبدیلی لائی جا سکتی ہے۔

سیمینار کے اختتام پر اس عزم کا اعادہ کیا گیا کہ علمی و فکری سرگرمیوں کے ذریعے معاشرے میں امن، برداشت اور یکجہتی کو فروغ دیا جاتا رہے گا۔

The Department of English Linguistics at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) successfully organized an engaging seminar titled “Beyond Degrees: English, Employability Skills & Professional Grooming” on April 29,2026, Wednesday at 11:30 AM.

Mr. Naveed Razzaq, Principal of Beaconhouse School System, Bahawalpur, was invited as the guest speaker for the career counselling session. Drawing upon his extensive experience in education and leadership, he shared valuable insights into the importance of English language proficiency, key employability skills, and professional grooming in today’s highly competitive job market.

The seminar provided students with practical guidance on career readiness and personal development. To acknowledge student participation and potential, the Department presented souvenirs as a token of appreciation.

Dr. Riaz Hussain, Chairperson of the Department of English Linguistics, expressed his gratitude to the guest speaker and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students. Faculty members, including Dr. Shahid Nawaz, Dr. Aisha Ilyas, and Dr. M. Sumair Zahid, also commended the efforts of the Linguistics Club for successfully organizing the event.

All Pakistan Inter-University Cricket Championship 2025–26 witnessed an important day today. In the first semi-final, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur defeated Government College University Faisalabad by 9 wickets after an excellent performance.

Under the captaincy of Ghulam Muhammad, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur chose to field first, a decision that proved to be effective. With outstanding bowling, they restricted GCU Faisalabad to just 160 runs.

While chasing the target, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur played aggressively and achieved the target in just 17 overs. Muhammad Saud played a fantastic century, which played a key role in securing an easy victory and qualifying the team for the final.

کشمیر اینڈ نظریۂ پاکستان سوسائٹی، ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف اسٹوڈنٹ افیئرز، اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے زیرِ اہتمام یومِ مزدور کے موقع پر ایک خصوصی سیمینار کا انعقاد کیا گیا، جس میں اساتذہ اور طلبہ کی کثیر تعداد نے شرکت کی۔ سیمینار کا مقصد محنت کش طبقے کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کرنا اور معاشرے میں ان کے حقوق و خدمات کو اجاگر کرنا تھا۔
ایڈوائزر کشمیر اینڈ نظریۂ پاکستان سوسائٹی ڈاکٹر محمد رمضان طاہر نے اپنے خطاب میں یومِ مزدور کی تاریخی اہمیت کو اجاگر کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ یکم مئی 1886ء کے شکاگو کے محنت کشوں کی قربانیاں آج بھی ہمارے لیے مشعلِ راہ ہیں۔ انہوں نے زور دیا کہ ایک منصفانہ معاشرے کے قیام کے لیے محنت کش طبقے کے حقوق کا تحفظ ناگزیر ہے۔
ڈاکٹر زاہدہ بابر نے کہا کہ یکم مئی محنت کشوں کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کرنے کا دن ہے جو معاشرے میں رواداری اور باہمی احترام کے فروغ کا ذریعہ بنتا ہے۔ انہوں نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ کوئی بھی معاشرہ اس وقت تک ترقی نہیں کر سکتا جب تک مزدور کو اس کی اجرت بروقت نہ دی جائے اور اس کے بنیادی حقوق کا مکمل خیال نہ رکھا جائے۔
ڈاکٹر حفصہ ثانیہ نے اپنے خطاب میں کہا کہ کشمیر اینڈ نظریۂ پاکستان سوسائٹی کا بنیادی مقصد ہی سماجی مساوات اور انصاف کا فروغ ہے، اور اسی سوچ کے تحت یومِ مزدور کے موقع پر یہ سیمینار منعقد کیا گیا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان کی مضبوطی کا دارومدار اس کے کسان اور مزدور کی خوشحالی سے وابستہ ہے، اور جب تک یہ طبقہ مستحکم نہیں ہوگا، قومی ترقی کا خواب ادھورا رہے گا۔ انہوں نے محنت کشوں اور خصوصاً چائلڈ لیبر کے مسئلے پر روشنی ڈالتے ہوئے اسے ایک سنگین سماجی المیہ قرار دیا اور اس کے خاتمے کے لیے اجتماعی شعور اور عملی اقدامات کی ضرورت پر زور دیا۔
ڈاکٹر احسان نے یکم مئی کے حوالے سے محنت کی عظمت اور اہمیت کو اجاگر کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ محنت کش طبقہ کسی بھی قوم کی ترقی میں ریڑھ کی ہڈی کی حیثیت رکھتا ہے۔ انہوں نے ان گنت مزدوروں کی خدمات کو سراہا جو خاموشی سے معاشرے اور معیشت کی ترقی میں بنیادی کردار ادا کر رہے ہیں۔
دیگر مقررین نے بھی مزدوروں کی جدوجہد، قربانیوں اور خدمات کو سراہتے ہوئے اس امر پر زور دیا کہ معاشرتی ترقی کے لیے محنت کش طبقے کے حقوق کا تحفظ اور ان کی فلاح و بہبود اولین ترجیح ہونی چاہیے۔
اختتام پر اس عزم کا اظہار کیا گیا کہ یومِ مزدور کے پیغام کو عام کرتے ہوئے ایک ایسا معاشرہ تشکیل دینے کی کوشش جاری رکھی جائے گی جہاں انصاف، مساوات اور محنت کا احترام یقینی ہو۔

At the Islamia University of Bahawalpur - Bahawalnagar Campus, a dignified program titled “Battle of Truth – Bunyan-un-Marsoos” was held on April 29, 2026, under the directions of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran, and under the supervision of the Campus Director, Dr. Rafaqat Ali Bajwa. The event witnessed active participation from both students and faculty members.

The program was attended by Dr. Rafaqat Ali Bajwa (Director, Bahawalnagar Campus), Dr. Ahmad Niaz (Head of Department, Software Engineering), Dr. Abid Riaz, Deputy Registrar Waqar Bin Tariq, and Lecturer Majid.

The guest speaker, Hafiz Ameer Hamza Rafi, stated that today it is essential for all of us to rise above differences and unite as one for the defense of our الوطن (homeland). He emphasized that our internal challenges can also be resolved through strong unity.

He further said:
“Even though the journey of Bunyan-un-Marsoos has not yet completed a year, Pakistan—once attempted to be isolated—is now emerging as a center of global attention and a symbol of peace, achieving remarkable success.”

He clearly stated that if the enemy dares to cast an evil eye, a strong response will be given. The armed forces of Pakistan are our strength, and the entire nation stands united like Bunyan-un-Marsoos alongside them.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor, Islamia University of Bahawalpur, visited the Bahawalnagar Campus. He was warmly welcomed by the Director Campus, Dr. Rafaqat Ali, along with the faculty members and administrative staff. During his visit, the Vice Chancellor stressed the importance of bridging the gap between knowledge and practical application. He urged the faculty to focus on nurturing the hidden talents of the students and integrating education into their daily lives to ensure their overall development. He visited various classrooms where he directly interacted with the students to discuss their academic progress. He addressed an interactive session with the students and faculty in the seminar hall. The Vice Chancellor listened to the problems of the students and assured them that their problems would be resolved on priority basis. The Vice Chancellor planted a sapling in the campus premises. He visited the girls’ hostel and reviewed the residential facilities. During his visit to the Old Campus, he reviewed the infrastructure and amenities.

The second day of the All Pakistan Intervarsity Cricket Championship 2025-26 featured the quarter-final matches. In quarter final The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) defeated the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore by a convincing margin.

Batting first, IUB scored 294 runs in the allotted 35 overs. In response, UET Lahore was bowled out for just 77 runs.

For IUB, Ghulam Muhammad played a brilliant innings of 70 runs while Adil Khan contributed 94 runs and Shahab Bukhari added 40 runs. In bowling, Asif took 3 wickets and Shahab Bukhari delivered an outstanding performance by claiming 5 wickets.

Shahab Bukhari was declared the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.

IUB Celebrates Women Founders at WomenWeave Expo 2026

Today at IUB, female students turned ideas into enterprises at _The WomenWeave Entrepreneurship Expo 2026_, held at the Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences. Organized by the Women Development Center, Usman Buzdar School of State Sciences. The expo showcased student startups, handmade products, and market-ready ventures.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran inaugurated the event and praised students for their innovation and entrepreneurial drive, calling the expo vital for women’s economic participation. Esteemed faculty members also joined. Prof. Dr. Altaf Hussain, Prof. Dr. Iqbal, Dr. Mirza Imran Shahzed, Dr. Irum Naz, Dr. Samina.

The Department of Plant Pathology, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, in collaboration with Pakistan Phytopathological Society organized a seminar titled “Seminar on Co-Creating R4D Partnerships” at Vice Chancellor's Secretariat, Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. The seminar was held under the theme “Strengthening research and innovation partnerships for sustainable agricultural development” and focused on co-creating Research for Development (R4D) partnerships to promote collaborative, demand-driven and impact-oriented research for agriculture and allied fields. Dr. Munawar R. Kazmi, Country Manager Pakistan, Australian Center for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) / President of Pakistan Phytopathological Society participated as the guest speaker. Dr. Munawar R. Kazmi underlined the value of co-designed, demand-driven and impact-oriented research partnerships. He encouraged faculty members and students to identify research ideas that can be developed through future collaboration with the ACIAR, particularly in areas linked with agricultural productivity, plant health, innovation and student learning. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naveed Aslam Malghani, Chairman, Department of Plant Pathology, served as the chief organizer and provided an interactive platform for faculty members and students to engage with ACIAR and discuss future opportunities for joint research, student grooming and institutional collaboration. Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain Turabi, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture & Environment, welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of collaborative research, innovation and capacity building for sustainable agricultural development. Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Vice Chancellor, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, graced the occasion, and in his concluding remarks, appreciated the initiative and emphasized that strong national and international research partnerships are essential for transforming academic expertise into practical solutions for farmers, communities and national development priorities.
The seminar was attended by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Dean, Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Dr. Dost Muhammad, Dean, Faculty of Computing. Senior faculty members from Faculty of Agriculture and Environment Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nafees, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Hassan Abbasi, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rafay, Prof. Dr. Maqshoof Ahmad, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem, and Prof. Dr. Sammar Fahad from the Department of Psychology also participated in the seminar. During his visit, Dr. Kazmi toured the CARE Lab in the Faculty of Engineering and the SAFE-RH Lab of Information Technology in the Faculty of Computing, where he took keen interest in the ongoing work and urged the development of future collaborations. He also visited the Faculty of Agriculture & Environment, including the Department of Plant Pathology, and appreciated the efforts of the Chairman and faculty for grooming students and strengthening academic activities. Dr. Kazmi further visited the Department of Horticultural Sciences and commended the work being carried out by faculty members and students. The seminar concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen research linkages, promote innovation-led learning and build meaningful partnerships between The Islamia University of Bahawalpur and the Australian Center for International Agricultural Research for sustainable agricultural development in Pakistan.
