Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq Assumes Charge as Vice Chancellor of AJ&K University of Bhimber; Holds Meetings with Dean, Directors, HoDs, Faculty and Administrative Staff
Bhimber, September 21, 2026: Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of AJ&K University of Bhimber, formally assumed charge of the office of Vice Chancellor on September 19, 2026. He received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from Registrar Dr. Abid Hussain, Treasurer Dr. Muhammad Saim Hashmi along with faculty members, officers, administrative staff, and students upon his arrival at the University.
On his first day in office, the Vice Chancellor held a series of meetings with faculty members, administrative staff, Directors, and Heads of Departments (HoDs) to review academic and administrative matters, student affairs, and priorities for the overall development and progress of the University.
The first meeting was held with all faculty members at 10:00 a.m. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq expressed his gratitude to Ch. Tariq Farooq, Honourable Speaker, President, and Chancellor of AJ&K University of Bhimber, for placing his trust in him and appointing him as Interim Vice Chancellor of the University.
The Vice Chancellor listened attentively to the suggestions, concerns, and proposals presented by the faculty in a cordial and friendly environment. Faculty members apprised him of various academic and administrative matters and shared possible solutions to address the challenges being faced by the University. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq appreciated their valuable input and emphasized the importance of collective efforts for the betterment, growth, and academic advancement of the institution.
During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor also acknowledged and appreciated the services and contributions of the former Vice Chancellor, Brigadier (Retd.) Professor Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed, particularly his efforts toward the establishment, strengthening, and development of the University.
The second meeting was held at 11:00 a.m. with the administrative staff. The Vice Chancellor heard their suggestions, concerns, and proposals regarding various administrative matters. He emphasized effective coordination, timely decision-making, professional responsibility, and teamwork, with the objective of developing a clear roadmap for the University's future progress.
The third meeting was held at 2:45 p.m. with the Registrar, Treasurer, Directors, and Heads of Departments. The Vice Chancellor directed the HoDs to address students' academic and administrative concerns promptly and to maintain a friendly, accessible, and supportive attitude toward students. He stressed that greater engagement among faculty, departmental leadership, and students would strengthen students' confidence and enable the University to identify and resolve their concerns at an early stage.
The HoDs were further directed to identify and compile departmental issues, formulate practical solutions, and initiate necessary action without delay. The Vice Chancellor emphasized that the provision of quality education, meaningful research opportunities, and adequate academic and research facilities for students would remain among the University's key priorities.
During the meetings, various officers and staff members were assigned specific tasks and responsibilities to be accomplished in the coming days. The Vice Chancellor emphasized that AJ&K University of Bhimber is a collective institution and that every member of the University community has an important role to play in its progress and development.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq stated that the University can move forward through teamwork, dedication, mutual respect, effective coordination, and a shared commitment to institutional excellence. He encouraged faculty members, officers, and staff to perform their responsibilities with sincerity, diligence, and professionalism for the uplift and advancement of the University.
The meetings concluded with a renewed emphasis on academic excellence, efficient administration, student facilitation, quality education and research, institutional development, and collective ownership of the University's mission and future.
