The Department of Economics, Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), proudly celebrates the outstanding academic and professional achievements of its distinguished alumna, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐊𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐫. Her inspiring journey reflects academic excellence, determination, and a strong commitment to teaching and research.

𝐌𝐬. 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐊𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐫 completed her 𝐌.𝐒𝐜. 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 from the Department of Economics, GCUF, during the 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟗–𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟏 session. Demonstrating exceptional academic ability, she secured 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 in her program and was awarded a 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥 in recognition of her outstanding performance.

Driven by her passion for advanced learning and economic research, she subsequently pursued her 𝐌.𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥. 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 from the same Department during the 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟖–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎 session. She once again distinguished herself academically by securing 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, reaffirming her consistent record of excellence.

Her research focuses on the relationship between demographic change and public health financing. Her M.Phil. research, titled 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, addresses an increasingly important economic and policy challenge. Her work contributes to understanding how ageing populations influence healthcare expenditure and the long-term sustainability of health systems across Asia.

In 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏, Ms. Ambreen Kousar achieved another major professional milestone when she was selected as a 𝐋𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 through the 𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐛 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐏𝐏𝐒𝐂). She secured the 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐛, reflecting her exceptional subject knowledge, professional competence, and dedication to the field of Economics.

She is currently serving as a 𝐋𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 at 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧, 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞’𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐍𝐨. 𝟐, 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝. Through her teaching, she continues to contribute to the academic development of students and to inspire young women to pursue excellence in Economics and higher education.

Ms. Ambreen Kousar’s journey—from earning a Gold Medal and securing first position in both her postgraduate programs to attaining the top position across Punjab in the PPSC lecturer selection—represents an inspiring example for current and future students. Her achievements demonstrate how academic distinction, perseverance, and professional commitment can lead to meaningful contributions to education and society.

The Department of Economics, Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), proudly features its distinguished alumnus, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐥𝐢 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐤, whose academic journey and professional accomplishments reflect dedication, scholarly excellence, and commitment to the field of Economics.

𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐥𝐢 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐤 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟐–𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟒. Earlier, he earned his M.Sc. in Economics from Forman Christian College Lahore (A Chartered University) during 2006–2008.

Continuing his pursuit of advanced academic excellence, he completed his 𝐏𝐡𝐃 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞’𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚, from September 2015 to June 2020. He subsequently undertook postdoctoral research at Shandong University from August 2020 to June 2023, further strengthening his expertise and research credentials.

He is currently serving as 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞, a position he has held since 30 September 2022. Through his teaching, research, and academic engagement, he contributes to the advancement of economic knowledge and the development of future economists.

His journey from the Department of Economics, GCUF, to doctoral and postdoctoral studies at an internationally recognized university, followed by a faculty position at GC University Lahore, demonstrates the strong academic and professional opportunities available to Economics graduates. His accomplishments are a source of pride for the Department and an inspiration for current students and fellow alumni.
