GCWUF professor Wins Prestigious ICM 2026 Travel Grant

Government College Women University Faisalabad proudly announces that Prof. Dr. Saima Akram, Professor of Mathematics and Coordinator, Faculty of Computing and Numerical Sciences, has been awarded the highly competitive Travel Grant for the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2026), to be held in Philadelphia, USA, 2026.

Organized by the International Mathematical Union every four years, the ICM is the world’s foremost gathering of mathematicians. The highly competitive Travel Support Program enables distinguished researchers from developing countries to participate in this global forum.

Notably, this marks the third time Prof. Dr. Akram has received this honor — a testament to her sustained research excellence and international standing.

The Department of Computer Science, Government College Women University Faisalabad ( GCWUF), successfully organized the FYP Exhibition 2026, showcasing innovative Final Year Projects and AI-powered solutions developed by CS students.

Chief Guest of this exhibition was Professor Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.), Vice Chancellor, GCWUF.

Prof. Dr. Saima Akram, Coordinator, Faculty of Computing and Numerical Sciences inaugurated the exhibition. She visited various projects along with the evaluation team and reviewed the students’ projectd. She highly appreciated the creativity, innovation, and practical significance of the projects presented by the students.

The evaluation panel included distinguished IT industry professionals as external evaluators, including Muhammad Aftab ur Rehman, Founder & CEO of CYBEX IT Group and Chairperson of IEEE Young Professionals, and Aal-e-Muhammad Hasnain, CEO of One Ten Design Studio, Ex- General Secretary of the Faisalabad IT Companies Organization (FITCO). The external evaluators commended the quality of the projects and encouraged students to continue developing innovative technological solutions with commercial and societal impact.

Under the supervision of Dr. Shazia Riaz, Assistant Professor , In-charge, Department of Computer Science, the exhibition was successfully organized by Ms. Ammarah Maqbool, FYP Coordinator CS, and her team. Their dedication, planning, and coordinated efforts played a vital role in making the event a grand success.

A wide range of projects covering AI applications, smart systems, software solutions, data analytics, and emerging technologies were displayed during the exhibition. Faculty members, industry experts, students, and visitors appreciated the high standard of work and the practical relevance of the showcased projects.
The event concluded with project evaluations, interactive discussions, and valuable feedback from academia and industry experts, making the Computer Science FYP Exhibition 2026 a highly successful and memorable event for *GCWUF*
