🎓 Orientation Ceremony for Mechanical Engineering 2026 Batch
The Orientation Ceremony for the 2026 Batch of Mechanical Engineering was held on 23 September 2026 at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Library. The event was attended by all faculty members of the department, who warmly welcomed the newly enrolled students.
The orientation provided students with an opportunity to become familiar with the departmental faculty, semester structure, academic expectations, and rules and regulations.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Dr. Salman Abbasi formally welcomed the students to the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He highlighted the rich legacy of mechanical engineering, from the innovation of vehicles to the development of modern aircraft. He emphasized that the boundaries between physical mechanics and digital intelligence are rapidly disappearing, making engineering an increasingly interdisciplinary field. He encouraged students to embrace this evolving landscape and develop the knowledge and skills needed to meet future challenges.
Dr. Haroon Farooq, In-Charge RCET, highlighted the importance of team building, mutual respect, collaboration, and self-grooming in a successful academic journey. He mentioned that the institute provides a perfect opportunity where one can nurture himself and become a shining star. Despite the limited resources, he assured the students that the administrative offices remain open and accessible to support and facilitate them throughout their time at the institution, helping them feel at home from day one.
The ceremony marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the Mechanical Engineering 2026 Batch. We warmly welcome all our new students and wish them a successful, rewarding, and inspiring journey ahead! 🚀⚙️

The meeting of all the Mechanical Engineering department faculty members was held on 29th June 2026 on the eve of semester conclusion. The Chairman, Dr. Muhammad Salman Abbasi appreciated the efforts of all the faculty members during the academic year. The chairman apprised the members on the achievement of various milestones by the department in the year 2025-26 such as:
1) The increase in the departmental intake from 50 to 100 after successful PEC change of scope visit.
2) The Launch of a New Ph.D. program in the department
The Chairman congratulated all the newly promoted faculty members including Dr. Qasim Ranjha, Dr. Anas Rao, and Miss Mariam Hameed in this academic year.
The departmental faculty set out new milestones and hope that the department will continue to make progress next year for the attainment of new milestones Insha’Allah.
The departmental faculty held discussions at length on various agenda items and decided the following matters:
1) Update of SAR for submission to PEC
2) Course allocation for undergraduate program in Fall 2026.
3) Allocation of Project groups for 2023 session
4) Summer semester planning
5) Various issues related to Outcome based education
The meeting ended with a note of thanks to and from the chair.
Afterwards, the faculty members enjoyed a lunch together.

For the third consecutive year, the ECAT Entry Test is being conducted in the Computer/CAD Lab of the Mechanical Engineering Department, a facility established through the generous support of our esteemed alumni.

Since its establishment, the lab has provided a modern and reliable testing environment for more than 1,200 ECAT candidates. This initiative has also contributed significantly to the University, generating approximately PKR 3.5 million in revenue to date.

This achievement reflects the Department’s commitment to academic excellence and the lasting impact of alumni support in strengthening educational infrastructure for future generations.

We are proud to announce that Rachna College of Engineering & Technology Gujranwala has officially been granted the No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for launching our PhD Program in Mechanical Engineering.

Big milestones achieved by the Mechanical Engineering Department 🚀

The Department of Mechanical Engineering proudly marks a historic milestone with the launch of its PhD Mechanical Engineering program (Fall 2026) — the first PhD program at the campus.

Building on this success, the department has also introduced the M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering program (Fall 2024), secured PEC approval to double undergraduate intake, and earned consecutive 3-year Level II accreditations (2021 & 2024). With over 90% graduate employability, upgraded labs, strong alumni support, and a growing research culture, the department continues to lead in academic excellence and innovation.
