MYTH: A verbal agreement is always as legally binding as a written one, with no special formalities.

FACT: Under Section 2(h) of the Contract Act, 1872, an agreement is a contract when it is made with the free consent of parties for lawful consideration. Every promise and set of promises forming consideration for each other is an agreement.
