GC UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD AWARDS DEGREES TO 448 STUDENTS AT THIRD CONVOCATION 🎓

Government College University Hyderabad held its Third Convocation on Wednesday, with degrees awarded to 448 students, including 432 undergraduate and 16 postgraduate scholars.

Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards and Pro-Chancellor Muhammad Ismail Rahoo attended the ceremony as chief guest and, along with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan, conferred degrees on the graduating students. Prof. Khan presided over the convocation.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rahoo congratulated the university administration on successfully holding its third convocation and said it was a matter of great pleasure to see the historic educational institution continuing its journey as a university.

He said the institution had a long history of serving education in Sindh and expressed the hope that GC University Hyderabad would continue to grow and make further progress in teaching, research and institutional development.

Congratulating the graduating students, the minister said their parents deserved special appreciation for the sacrifices and support that had enabled their children to reach this milestone.

“The graduates of today are the future of Sindh and Pakistan,” he said, urging them to continue their pursuit of knowledge and use their education for the betterment of society. He said educated and empowered young people strengthened their families, institutions and ultimately the country.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan, in his speech, congratulated the graduating students and postgraduate scholars and extended his best wishes for their future academic and professional careers. He said the convocation represented an important milestone not only for the students but also for their parents and teachers, whose support had contributed to their success.

Prof. Khan said a university’s responsibility went beyond awarding degrees and included preparing young people to face emerging challenges with knowledge, confidence and a sense of responsibility. He urged the graduates to uphold the values of integrity, hard work and lifelong learning and to use their knowledge and skills to contribute positively to society and the country. He said the university remained committed to strengthening academic standards, research and opportunities for its students.

According to Controller of Examinations Mr Hanif Brohi, degrees were awarded to 432 students of BS Batch 2022 and 16 students of MPhil, MS and MBA Batch 2023.

Among the BS graduates, 164 belonged to the Faculty of Natural Sciences, 147 to the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, 74 to the Faculty of Social Sciences and 47 to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

The postgraduate degree recipients included scholars from MPhil programmes in English, Chemistry, Mathematics and Zoology, besides MS Information Technology and MBA programmes.

A total of 15 students were awarded gold medals, 18 received silver medals and nine were awarded bronze medals for their academic performance.

Sindh Higher Education Commission Secretary Mr Moinuddin Siddiqui; Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yousuf Khushk; Vice Chancellor of the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, Bhitshah, Prof. Dr. Imamuddin Khoso; Vice Chancellor of the University of Mirpurkhas, Prof. Dr. Rafique Ahmed Memon; Dr Abdul Qadeer Rajput; Amin Yousuf; and Dr Sher Mehranvi were among the distinguished guests who attended the ceremony.

The proceedings of the convocation were conducted by University Registrar Dr Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto, while Mr Pervaiz Bughio and Ms Tahmina Kalwar served as anchors for the ceremony.

Faculty members, university officers, students, parents and invited guests attended the convocation.

GC University Hyderabad inaugurated its Constituent College here on Monday, August 17, marking the formal commencement of academic activities at the college.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Moazzam Ali Khan inaugurated the college, while regular classes also began on the occasion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Khan said the university would focus on providing quality education and creating better academic opportunities for students.

Vice Chancellor said the Constituent College would be developed into a model institution with a conducive learning environment and improved academic facilities.

Directorate of Student Financial Aid at GC University Hyderabad distributed Sindh HEC Indigenous Scholarship cheques among MS, MPhil and PhD scholars at a ceremony held on Aug 12.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan handed over the cheques to the recipients in the presence of faculty members and university officials.

Speaking on the occasion, the vice chancellor said the scholarships would help deserving scholars continue their higher studies and promote a culture of quality research at the university.

The ceremony was organised by the Directorate of Student Financial Assistance. Its Director, Mr Hakim Ali Zardari, briefed participants on the scholarship programme and efforts being made to facilitate postgraduate scholars.
