Isra University Leads Successful Completion of Crop Protection Technician (Level-3) Training at Hazara University, Mansehra (KPK)
The closing ceremony of the Crop Protection Technician (Level-3) Training under the Trade-Based Capacity Development of TVET Trainers – Agri-Business Sector Project was held on Friday, 15 May 2026, at Hazara University, Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a strong representation from academia, international development partners, and national TVET stakeholders. The ceremony was graced by Mr. Mashooque Ali Bhatti, Director Services, Isra University Islamabad Campus, who attended as the representative of the Vice Chancellor, Isra University, marking the institution’s leading role in the successful ex*****on of the program. The closing ceremony brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including Prof. Dr. Ikramullah Khan (Vice Chancellor, Hazara University), Dr. Saad Baloch, National Project Coordinator (Isra University), Dr. Akbar Abbas Bangash (COO, Sara Learning Global USA), Dr. Qaiser Khan (Advisor HRD, GIZ Germany), Mr. Syed Alam Shah (Director Academics, KP TEVTA), Mr. Gulab Afridi (Program Assistant, NAVTTC Islamabad), and Dr. Nadia Jabeen (Resource Person & Local Expert). Faculty members, heads of departments of Hazara University, trainers, and participants were also present in large numbers.
Shields and souvenirs were distributed among distinguished guests, resource persons, and organizers, and certificates were awarded to all 25 participants who successfully completed the training. The program was implemented and coordinated by Isra University in collaboration with SLG, GIZ, NAVTTC and Hazara University, aiming to strengthen technical and vocational competencies of TVET trainers in Pakistan’s agriculture and agribusiness sector through competency-based and industry-aligned learning methodologies. Throughout the five-day training (11–15 May 2026), these 25 trainees from the first batch actively participated in structured theoretical and practical sessions. The training covered integrated crop protection systems, pest scouting and disease diagnosis, safe pesticide handling, PPE usage, sprayer calibration, environmental safety practices, soil fertility management, and CBT&A-based assessment models. Participants also engaged in LMS-based learning, pre- and post-assessments, and field-based practical demonstrations.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mashooq Ali Bhatti highlighted the commitment of Isra University in promoting skill-based education and acknowledged the efforts of all partner institutions, experts, and facilitators in ensuring the successful completion of the training batch. The Vice Chancellor’s representation underscored the university’s institutional support and ownership of the initiative. At the conclusion of the ceremony, shields and souvenirs were distributed among all distinguished guests, technical experts, and organizing partners in recognition of their valuable contributions. Certificates were awarded to all 25 participants upon successful completion of the training. The event concluded with a group photograph and a networking session.
The training also included industrial exposure visits to key agricultural research and demonstration sites, including the National Tea and High Value Crop Research Institute and the Baffa Agricultural Research Center, where participants observed olive orchards, tea processing systems, wheat and maize cultivation practices, and modern pest management techniques. Field-based learning at Hazara University’s Agriculture Department further strengthened practical understanding of crop protection applications. Addressing the ceremony, the speakers acknowledged the strategic importance of strengthening TVET trainer capacity in the agribusiness sector to meet evolving industry demands. They particularly appreciated the leadership and coordination role of Isra University in successfully executing the training program at a national level in collaboration with academic and development partners.
