The Faculty of Contemporary Studies, National Defence University, is proud to share the remarkable achievement of Dr. Bilal Latif, Assistant Professor, Department of Leadership and Management Sciences, who has been awarded the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025.
The 2025 MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship call was exceptionally competitive, attracting a record 17,066 proposals, compared with 10,360 proposals in 2024—the highest number of proposals ever received for any funding action in the 40-year history of the EU Research and Innovation Framework Programmes. Of these, 16,836 proposals were eligible and evaluated, with only 1,610 projects selected for funding, resulting in an overall success rate of just 9.6%.
Against this highly competitive international field, Dr. Latif achieved an outstanding evaluation score of 97.6/100, placing him among approximately the top 3–4% in Economic Sciences. Based on the best available information, he is the only known serving faculty member at a Pakistani university to have secured an MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025 in the field of Economic Sciences.
The fellowship will be hosted by Universidad CEU San Pablo, Madrid, Spain, with an international secondment at Stevens Institute of Technology, USA, and a non-academic placement at the Bank of Spain.
This achievement highlights the calibre and international competitiveness of research being undertaken by NDU faculty and contributes to the University’s growing international research profile.
Congratulations to Dr. Bilal Latif on this distinguished achievement. Wishing him continued success in his postdoctoral research and international academic journey.
