Students from the University of Sindh, representing the Bureau of STAGS, participated in the International Marine Oil Spill Response & SAR Exercise BARRACUDA-XIII, held from 9 to 11 December 2025 in Karachi under the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency. The event brought together national and international organizations to demonstrate and improve response mechanisms for marine oil spills and search-and-rescue operations in the North Arabian Sea.

During the exercise, the students observed technical demonstrations, real-time drills, and briefings by maritime experts, which broadened their understanding of marine environmental protection and maritime security. Their participation provided valuable exposure to professional practices beyond the classroom, and they were awarded Certificates of Participation for representing the University of Sindh in this important international program.

Awareness Session on Pakistan Navy Recruitment Held at University of Sindh, Jamshoro

Jamshoro: The Bureau of STAGS, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, organized an awareness session on recruitment opportunities in the Pakistan Navy, which was attended by a large number of students from various departments. The session was led by Commander Asif Raza, who headed the visiting Pakistan Navy team.

Commander Asif Raza delivered an informative lecture highlighting the wide range of benefits offered to officers in the Pakistan Navy. He explained that naval officers are provided with quality accommodation, a 50% discount on travel, free medical facilities, house rent allowances, and a transparent selection system based strictly on merit. He also briefed students in detail about the recruitment procedure, including the entry test, interview stages, and criteria for selection.

Students were particularly encouraged by the career opportunities available in the Pakistan Navy for graduates of Psychology, IT, Pharmacy, LLM, BBA, Commerce, Mathematics, and English. The session proved highly motivational, with many students expressing keen interest in pursuing a career in the Navy.

The event was attended by Dean Faculty of Commerce Prof. Dr. Javed Chandio, Director Institute of Commerce Dr. Hakim Ali Mahesor, Director Bureau of STAGS Dr. Shabana Tunio, Deputy Director Dr. Mubarak Lashari, along with other faculty members.

The session concluded with appreciation for the Pakistan Navy’s efforts in engaging youth and guiding them toward national service through professional avenues.

Bureau of STAGS, University of Sindh, Commemorates Iqbal Day with Inspiring Seminar

Jamshoro– The Bureau of STAGS, University of Sindh organized a one-day seminar to celebrate Iqbal Day, paying tribute to the visionary poet and philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The event, marked by scholarly discourse and patriotic fervour, was presided over by Dr. Khalil-ur-Rahman Khoumbati, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Sindh, Badin Campus.

Dr. Shabana Tunio, Director of the Bureau of STAGS, formally inaugurated the proceedings with a warm welcome address, setting the tone for a day of reflection on Iqbal's enduring leg

The seminar featured insightful presentations on the political philosophy of Allama Iqbal. Dr. Atiq Ahmed Jeelani and Dr. Bisharat Lajwani delivered thought-provoking speeches, delving into Iqbal's ideas on self-realization, Islamic principles, and his vision for a progressive Muslim society. Their analyses highlighted the contemporary relevance of Iqbal's philosophy for the youth and the nation.

Adding a poignant and cultural dimension to the event, children from the Syed Panah Shah School presented a soulful rendition of Allama Iqbal's famous prayer, captivating the audience. The ceremony concluded on a stirring note with a powerful performance of a national song by Muhammad Ali

The seminar successfully served as a platform to rekindle the ideals of Iqbal, inspiring attendees to embody his message of knowledge, faith, and purposeful action.

Bureau of STAGS Hosts Seminar on Women Empowerment & Gender Equity at University of Sindh

Jamshoro, October 24, 2025 — The Bureau of STAGS, University of Sindh, successfully organized a high-impact seminar on Women Empowerment and Gender Equity at Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium, University of Sindh. The seminar aimed to promote awareness on gender equality, women’s leadership, and socio-economic empowerment.

SU takes out rally on Kashmir Black Day to express solidarity with oppressed people of Kashmir

JAMSHORO: The University of Sindh, Jamshoro on Monday organized a Kashmir Black Day rally under the auspices of the Bureau of STAGS to express solidarity with the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir.

The rally was led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri and started from the Arts Faculty Building.

It passed through various roads of the campus and culminated in front of the Central Library, where it turned into a demonstration.

A large number of teachers, officers and students participated in the rally while raising slogans against Indian aggression and calling for the right to self-determination for Kashmiris.

Addressing the participants, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri said that the Kashmir issue was fundamentally a human rights matter that demanded global attention and justice.

He said that the people of Kashmir had been facing severe oppression and military suppression for decades, yet their courage had remained unshaken.

He stated that peace in South Asia couldn't be established until the Kashmir dispute was resolved according to the United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

He said that Pakistan had always extended political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Kashmir and will continue to do so.

He emphasized that universities must play their role in spreading awareness among youth about national and international issues including Kashmir.

He added that silence over injustice anywhere was equal to supporting that injustice and therefore the voice of solidarity must continue.

He said the University of Sindh will keep organizing awareness and solidarity activities regarding Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah said that the people of Kashmir were struggling not for conflict but for their basic democratic right, which had been denied to them.

He said that the world community must break its silence and respond to the violations of human rights in the occupied region.

He added that the academic community had a responsibility to highlight global injustices and promote peace-oriented dialogue.

He said that the rally reflected the commitment of the University and its students to universal human values and justice.

Registrar Professor Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jariko while addressing the gathering said that Kashmir Black Day reminded the world that oppression could never suppress the spirit of freedom.

He said that scholars, researchers and students should continue to raise awareness through academic debate and critical inquiry.

He said that the University will continue supporting efforts that promoted the cause of human rights, peace and justice.

Among others, Dr Nanak Ram, Dr Muhammad Khan Sangi, Dr Imanuddin Khoso, Dr. Javed Chandio, Dr. Shabana Tunio, Dr. Naheed Kaka, Dr. Ambreen Khaskheli, Dr. Mubarak Lashari, Dr Abdul Sami Shaikh and many faculty members were present along with a large number of students who participated actively in the rally.

World Food Day Seminar at University of Sindh

JAMSHORO, October 22, 2025– The Bureau of STAGS (Sindh University) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) marked World Food Day with a significant seminar titled "Good Food for Good Health," held at the university's Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium.

The event, which also marked the auditorium's return to operation after a three-year hiatus, brought together faculty, administrators, and students to discuss the critical role of nutrition in everyday life.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sindh, Dr. Fateh Marri, presided as the chief guest. In his keynote address, he eloquently elaborated on the fundamental importance of a nutritious diet for overall well-being and academic performance. Dr. Marri also took a moment to commend the efforts of Dr. Shabana Tunio, Director of the Bureau of STAGS, for her pivotal role in organizing the seminar and for successfully making the Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium functional once again.

"The revival of this auditorium symbolizes a renewed commitment to intellectual discourse, and there is no better topic to restart this tradition than the vital subject of food security and health," stated Dr. Marri.
