Brief History of the Institute
The Institute of Chemistry at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, is one of the oldest and most prestigious academic departments of the university. Established in 1951, it has a long-standing legacy of excellence in chemical education and research. Over the decades, it has produced thousands of graduates who have made significant contributions in academia, research, industry, education, and public service — both in Pakistan and abroad.
With its four major specializations — Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry — the Institute has continuously advanced the frontiers of knowledge through teaching, research, and innovation.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Alumni Association of the Institute of Chemistry is to build a lifelong connection between the institute and its graduates by fostering engagement, collaboration, and contribution. Through this network, we aim to support academic excellence, enhance career opportunities for students, and uphold the legacy of the Institute.
Aims and Objectives
1. Reconnect & Engage:
To establish a strong and active network of alumni across the globe and foster a sense of belonging and pride in their alma mater.
2. Support Students & Graduates:
To mentor students, provide career guidance, facilitate internships and job placements through alumni connections.
3. Academic Development:
To contribute to the academic and research growth of the Institute through guest lectures, workshops, scholarships, and lab support.
4. Fundraising & Donations:
To mobilize resources and raise funds for academic development, infrastructure, student aid, and research initiatives.
5. Recognition & Celebration:
To celebrate the achievements of distinguished alumni and highlight success stories that can inspire the next generation.
6. Advisory Role:
To serve as a consultative body in curriculum review, technological upgradation, and institutional planning.
7. Global Exposure:
To build bridges between the Institute and international academic/research institutions through alumni living abroad.
8. Preserve the Legacy:
To document the history, achievements, and impact of the Institute and its graduates over the decades.
