✨ Highlights from Session 03: Quality Assurance, Quality Control & GMP

INDUSTRY READINESS PROGRAM

The Faculty of Science, Jinnah University for Women successfully concluded the third and final session of its Industry Readiness Program – Certificate Course on Industrial Quality Assurance and Regulatory Laboratory Practices, focusing on “Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).”

The session was conducted by Mr. Syed Muhammad Imran, Director, Quality Operations, AGP Pvt. Ltd., Karachi, who shared valuable industry insights into QA, QC, and GMP, highlighting their importance in ensuring product quality, safety, consistency, and regulatory compliance.

The session provided participants with practical, industry-oriented knowledge of quality systems, manufacturing standards, and regulatory requirements, particularly relevant to pharmaceutical and other regulated sectors.

With this session, the three-session program was successfully completed, strengthening the connection between academic learning and professional industry expectations.

We sincerely thanks to our Session Coordinators: Prof. Dr. Aliya Riaz, Chairperson, Department of Biochemistry; Dr. Ayisha Aman Ullah, Chairperson, Department of Biotechnology; and Ms. Saima Komal, Lecturer, Department of Biotechnology, for their valuable efforts and coordination in making the program successful.

INDUSTRY READINESS PROGRAM

The Faculty of Science, Jinnah University for Women successfully conducted the second session of its Industry Readiness Program – Certificate Course on Industrial Quality Assurance and Regulatory Laboratory Practices, focusing on “Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) & Biosafety.”

The session was delivered by Mr. Jehan Zaib Arshad, Medical Laboratory Technologist/Biologist and Management Trainer at BMSI, JPMC Karachi, who provided participants with practical insights into the importance of Good Laboratory Practices, biosafety, laboratory documentation, and safe laboratory operations.

The session emphasized the role of standardized laboratory practices in ensuring quality, reliability, safety, traceability, and compliance within professional and regulated laboratory environments.

INDUSTRY READINESS PROGRAM

The Faculty of Science, Jinnah University for Women successfully conducted the first session of its Industry Readiness Program – Certificate Course on Industrial Quality Assurance and Regulatory Laboratory Practices, focusing on “Industry Structure & Skill Gap Analysis.”

The session was led by Mr. Ehtisham Asif, R&D Lead and Molecular Biologist at UM Enterprises, Karachi, who shared valuable industry insights on the evolving structure of the life sciences sector, current professional expectations, and the skills required to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practices.

The session provided participants with a better understanding of industry requirements, career opportunities, professional competencies, and the skills needed to build successful careers in life sciences and allied fields.

🌟 Introducing Our Industry Readiness Program | Faculty of Science, Jinnah University for Women

The Faculty of Science, Jinnah University for Women, organized an Industry Readiness Program – Certificate Course on Industrial Quality Assurance and Regulatory Laboratory Practices, designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional industry requirements.

The program focused on key areas including Industry Skills, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Biosafety, Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

The program was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Aliya Riaz, Chairperson, Department of Biochemistry; Dr. Avisha Aman Ullah, Chairperson, Department of Biotechnology; and Ms. Saima Komal, Lecturer, Department of Biotechnology, whose efforts contributed to successfully organizing this industry-focused initiative.

With the participation of industry experts and professionals, the program provided students, researchers, faculty members, and laboratory professionals with valuable insights into industry standards, quality practices, regulatory compliance, and professional expectations.

On 18th May 2026, the C70 room in the Department of Biotechnology, Jinnah University for Women, came alive with a special moment for the TriBio Society — its Transition and Induction Ceremony 2026.

It was an occasion of both endings and new beginnings. The outgoing Executive Council was appreciated for their efforts, while the new members stepped into their roles with fresh energy and responsibility.

The oath-taking was led by Ms. Yusra Arshad, President - TriBio Society, as members formally committed themselves to the society’s vision. This was followed by a badge handover ceremony, symbolizing continuity between outgoing and incoming teams.

Letters of recognition were presented to the outgoing Executive Council in appreciation of their services by Founding Faculty Member Dr Alveena Zehra and Chairperson Department of Biotechnology Dr Ayisha Aman Ullah.
The ceremony concluded with remarks appreciating the efforts of students and encouraging them to continue strengthening the society.

The Department of Biotechnology extends its best wishes to the newly inducted Executive Council and looks forward to their continued efforts in strengthening TriBio Society and promoting biosafety, biosecurity, and bioethics awareness among students.
