Bridging Academia & Industry for the 5G Era!

NED University of Engineering and Technology has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CMPak Limited (Zong) to advance Information and Communication Technology (ICT) innovation and empower the next generation of engineers!

The ceremony was held in the distinguished presence of NED University leadership, including Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Noman Ahmed, and Dean Prof. Dr. Saad Ahmed Qazi.The official MoU was signed by Mr. Syed Ghazanfar Hussain (Registrar, NEDUET) and Mr. Anas Matloob (Deputy General Manager - South, CMPak), with witness representation from Prof. Dr. Muhammad Imran Aslam (Chairman, Department of Telecommunications Engineering) and Mr. Muhammad Sharif Agha (Commercial Head - South, CMPak).

Salient Features
1. Setting up a state-of-the-art center and exploring lab upgrades in the Department of Telecommunications Engineering.
2. Creating innovation zones to experience 5G technology firsthand, including a 5G Bus Experience for students and faculty.
3. Incorporating direct telecommunication industry input into academic coursework and engaging faculty in active CMPak projects.
4. Accelerating career readiness through structured internship programs, career counseling, recruitment drives, and mock interviews.

NED University Faculty Contributes to Capacity Building of Pakistan’s Senior Civil Servants

Dr. Farhan Ahmed Shaikh, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics & Management Sciences, NED University of Engineering & Technology, was invited as a Resource Person to contribute to the capacity building of Pakistan’s senior civil servants during the 40th Senior Management Course (SMC) organized by the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Karachi, a constituent unit of the National School of Public Policy (NSPP), Government of Pakistan.

The engagement reflects NED University’s commitment to Faculty Outreach, Public Sector Engagement, Executive Education, and Capacity Building, extending academic expertise beyond the university and contributing to institutional development and improved governance.

NED University’s Consultancy Work Recognized by PSO for Driving Sustainability and Cost Savings

NED University of Engineering & Technology is pleased to share that Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has formally acknowledged the impact of NED’s consultancy support in the 24th edition of PSO Times.

Through a strategic partnership between NED University and PSO’s Lubricant Supply Chain, the design of PSO’s HDPE lubricant cans was optimized using reverse engineering and structural analysis conducted by NED expert Dr. Tariq Jamil and his team at Multiscale Modelling and Simulation Lab. The redesigned cans deliver greater structural strength, improved safety, and enhanced handling performance, while using less HDPE material. Special thanks to Ms. Arika Fazail, Deputy General Manager, for leading the project from the PSO side.

This optimization has enabled PSO to achieve cost savings of over PKR 11 million between December 2025 and June 2026, contributing directly to the company’s sustainability and resource efficiency goals.

NED University Research Published in Q1 Nature Portfolio Journal!

A research paper by Dr. Fatima Khalid, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, NED University, has been published in Scientific Reports, a Q1 journal of the Nature Portfolio.

Titled “Application of Data-Driven Modeling Techniques for Predicting the Shear Strength of Reinforced Concrete Beams,” the study uses an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and a database of 1,977 experimental beam specimens to predict shear strength with high accuracy.

The ANN-based approach demonstrated superior predictive performance compared with established design-code models, including CSA, ACI 318, and Eurocode 2 (EC2)—highlighting the potential of Artificial Intelligence and data-driven modeling to complement conventional structural engineering practices.

NEDUET Faculty Member Represents NED University at International Conference in Mongolia

Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Memon, Professor, Panjwani-Hisaar Water Institute, NED University of Engineering & Technology, participated in the ANSO-MAS 2nd Conference and field trip on Environmental Hazards in Asia, held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from July 27 to August 03, 2026.

Dr. Ghaffar presented his research on “Integrating Sensor-Based IoT and Satellite Remote Sensing for Comprehensive Water Quality Monitoring,” focusing on the integration of emerging sensing and remote-sensing technologies for comprehensive and data-driven environmental monitoring.
The conference brought together researchers, academics, and professionals working on environmental hazards and sustainability across Asia. During the event, Dr. Ghaffar actively participated in technical discussions and engaged with international researchers to exchange knowledge and explore opportunities for joint research, publications, research projects, and academic collaboration.
His participation further strengthened NED University's international academic engagement and research networking in the fields of water quality monitoring, IoT, environmental sensing, satellite remote sensing, and sustainable environmental management.
