ZAB Media Festival 2012

ZAB Media Festival 2012 SZABIST’s 5th Annual Media Festival. Students across Pakistan are provided a platform through which to showcase their many talents.

SZABIST’s annual Media Festival (ZMF) is planned and produced each year by the students and faculty in the Department of Media Sciences. The theme for this year’s festival is One for 99 (one for ninety-nine). Over the past year, global justice movements have made us increasingly aware of social inequities and class divisions that exist around the world. From Tahrir Square to Zuccotti Park, members

of the 99% have raised their voices in a chorus of anger against the 1% (those who own and control private institutions and corporations that govern the lives and livelihoods of the vast majority of global citizens). These inequities divisions exist in Pakistan just as they do everywhere else in the world. We have adopted the phrase One for 99 as the theme of our festival in order to encourage our fellow students across the country to address the many socioeconomic differences that prevail in our communities. We understand the theme in two distinct but related ways:
To give voice to the voiceless, the 99% of the people whose lives we rarely see. Showcase the contribution of those individuals, members of the one percent who work diligently to better the lives of those less advantaged than themselves.
