The Literary & Publication Society (LPS) is one of the ten official societies operating under the Department of Controller Students’ Affairs (CSA), NED University. Since its inception, LPS has been at the forefront of literary, intellectual, and artistic initiatives, fostering a culture of reading, writing, performing arts, and media production. LPS provides a structured platform for creative expr
ession through its three wings:
• General Wing – Organizes literary discussions, writing competitions, and cultural events.
• Theatre Wing – Trains and performs in dramatics, stage productions, and national-level theatre competitions.
• NEDIAN Newspaper Wing – Publishes the official NEDIAN Newspaper quarterly in collaboration with UAFA NED, covering university affairs, student contributions, and literary content.
𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
• Aghaaz-e-Nau (2017) marked a defining moment in LPS’s history, when the society hosted renowned orator Zia Mohyeddin at NED University for the first time, creating a lasting impact on the literary community.
• Zaawiya, founded in 2018, is an open mic platform designed to create an intimate mehfil setting where individuals can share their thoughts, recite poetry, or present their own literary works. Since its establishment, it has nurtured a community of writers, poets, and performers, making it one of LPS’s most cherished initiatives.
• Sahr-e-Adab, organized on July 13, 2023, was a one-day literary event featuring panel discussions, theatre performances, and competitive literary activities, providing a platform for students to showcase their creative potential.
• Baad-e-Naubahar – The Literary Fest 2024, held from July 1 to 3, was a three-day festival that brought together institutions from across Karachi to celebrate writing, public speaking, performing arts, and literature. The event featured panel talks, competitions, and social gatherings, establishing itself as a premier intellectual and cultural event.

Beyond its flagship events, LPS has continuously expanded its reach through creative projects that integrate literature with modern media and art:
• The LPS Theatre Wing secured a landmark victory at the All Pakistan Theatre Competition hosted by IBA, strengthening its reputation for excellence in stage performance and storytelling.
• Scriptwriting workshops and digital storytelling sessions train students in creative writing and visual storytelling techniques.
• Short film productions and poetry recitations blend literature with modern media, making literary expression more engaging and accessible.

• Scribe, NED’s official newsletter, provides insights into university events and activities.
• INSIGHT, the official e-zine, showcases creative and intellectual contributions from students and faculty. Through these events, platforms, and publications, LPS continues to play a pivotal role in promoting literature, intellectual discourse, and artistic expression at NED University.
