Karachi Institute of Economics & Technology (KIET) was established in 1997 with the aim of providing quality education economically. Its academic programs are designed to prepare students to meet the challenges of the business world. KIET received recognition by the Higher Education Commission (formerly named as UGC) vide letter no. 15-22/UGC-SEC/97/1291 dated August 1, 1998. KIET was awarded a de
gree-granting status through a charter from the Government of Sindh on May 24, 2000. In June 2000, the KIET Ahsanabad Campus, spread over 01 acre, is situated at Ahsanabad, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Karachi. It is located within 5-10 minute drive from the National Highway. The educational complex at this campus has a custom-built infrastructure that enables professional education in a peaceful environment. Purpose-built building structures, open spaces, green lawns, and diversity of students create a stimulating and lively campus environment. The City Campuses are situated in P.E.C.H.S Block-6 at Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi. The location provides an opportunity for working students to acquire higher professional education during evenings and weekends. The diversity of work experience of students creates a mature and professional environment with lively class discussions. KIET launched two new campuses in 2011 in Karachi, one in North Nazimabad and another at Super Highway, adjacent to Gulshan-e-Maymar. These two new campuses are developed for the convenience of students who are residing in the central and northern part of Karachi. Currently, there are over 4100 full time and part-time students at KIET. All of KIET’s Campuses are fully equipped with modern educational facilities, including air-conditioned lecture rooms, computer labs, reading rooms, libraries, research centers in addition to the facilities of cafeterias and indoor and outdoor games. The Institute promotes an environment of hard work, discipline, leadership and professionalism. There is a focus on providing quality facilities that students and parents desire and expect from an institution. Academic Year: The academic year consists of Fall (September-January) and Spring (January-May) semesters each of approximately 18 weeks and a Summer (June-August) semester of 8 weeks. Full-time students take 5-6 courses in Fall and Spring semesters and up to 2 courses in the Summer semester.
