We are proud to share that Dr. Adnan A. Hyder (MBBS 1990) has been profiled in the February 2026 edition of The Lancet - a prestigious and widely respected global medical journal.

The feature traces Dr. Hyder’s journey from a medical student at the Aga Khan University to an internationally recognized leader in public health and health systems. In the article, he reflects on how his early experiences serving underserved communities in Pakistan shaped his deep commitment to advancing community health and reducing health inequities.

Thanks to you Tayyaba can now hear and speak!

A few months ago, Doctors at the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) discovered she had severe hearing loss and prescribed a cochlear implant. Though this could change her life, the cost was beyond her family’s reach.

With your generous contributions to the Patients’ Behbud Society for AKUH, Tayyaba received a life-changing cochlear implant surgery at AKUH. Today, she can listen to her mother’s bedtime stories, express what she wants and experience a much better quality of life.

What an evening! Nairobi was buzzing as we reunited with our incredible AKU alumni for a night of celebration, connection, and a bit of dancing!

It was inspiring to see graduates from across our schools: School of Nursing and Midwifery, East Africa, Medical College, East Africa, Graduate School of Media and Communications and the Institute for Educational Development, East Africa come together. The alumni shared stories of where their journeys have taken them since graduation and looked ahead at new ways to grow together.

Special thanks to our leadership, deans, faculty and staff for joining the event. Seeing the impact our alumni are making in Kenya and beyond is a powerful reminder of what this community is all about.
