The SORT() function is a dynamic array formula that instantly sorts a range or table. Unlike manual sorting toolbar buttons, it leaves your original data completely intact and automatically updates whenever your source data changes.

​array (Required): The data range or table you want to sort.
​[sort_index] (Optional): The column index number to sort by (e.g., 1 for the first column, 2 for the second). Default is 1.
​[sort_order] (Optional): Use 1 for Ascending (A-to-Z, lowest to highest) or -1 for Descending (Z-to-A, highest to lowest). Default is 1.
​[by_col] (Optional): A logical value. Use FALSE to sort by row (standard behavior) or TRUE to sort by column. Default is FALSE.
