Heartiest congratulations to our former Director and Professor of the Institute of Environmental Studies, University of Karachi, Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan, on being appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Government College University Hyderabad — a proud moment for the Institute’s 35-year legacy.
Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan, former Registrar of the University of Karachi, has been appointed Vice Chancellor of Government College University Hyderabad — the only provincial public university established in Sindh’s second-largest city. A formal notification of his appointment has been issued.
He will assume charge of his position on Monday. The Search Committee had shortlisted three candidates for the post of Vice Chancellor.
In a meeting chaired by the Chairman of the Sindh Higher Education Commission, Dr. Tariq Rafi, Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan — former Registrar of the University of Karachi and former Director of the Institute of Environmental Studies — was placed at the top of the list.
Dr. Imamuddin Khushk, former PVC of the Mirpurkhas campus and Director of IBA Sindh University, was ranked second, while Dr. Mir Muhammad Shah, Pro-Vice Chancellor of IBA Sukkur University, was ranked third.
A total of 164 candidates applied for the position, out of which 130 were shortlisted. Candidate interviews continued for several days.
These three shortlisted names were then sent to the country’s three reputable intelligence agencies for clearance. After their approval, the Chief Minister of Sindh confirmed the appointment of Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan as Vice Chancellor.
