SZABUL Celebrates 79th Independence Day with National Spirit and Renewed Commitment
Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL) celebrated the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan on 14 August 2026 with national enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and a renewed commitment to the ideals of unity, discipline, integrity, responsibility and service to the nation.
The celebrations commenced with the flag-hoisting ceremony led by Worthy Vice Chancellor Justice (R) Kusar Sultana Hussain, followed by the national anthem. On the eve of Independence Day, the Worthy Vice Chancellor also personally planted a sapling, reaffirming SZABUL’s commitment to a greener, healthier and more sustainable Pakistan. In her prayers, she prayed for Pakistan to flourish and prosper.
The ceremony was attended by the Registrar, Deans, Chairpersons, Director Finance, Director General Administration, faculty members, officers, staff and students.
The formal programme featured Qirat by Dr. Syed Attaullah Shah Bukhari, Naat by Dr. Rahila Parveen, and a welcome address by Dr. Karamatullah Husainy, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, followed by patriotic Milli Naghmay presented by students and participants.
🎙️ A Message for the Young Generation
Addressing the gathering, Worthy Vice Chancellor Justice (R) Kusar Sultana Hussain paid tribute to those who sacrificed for the creation and defence of Pakistan and urged students to look beyond the ceremonial aspects of Independence Day.
She called upon the younger generation to study the life, character, principles and leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and, more importantly, to incorporate his values into their own lives.
She highlighted Quaid-e-Azam’s commitment to integrity, discipline, simplicity, constitutionalism, principled leadership and public service, emphasizing that his life offers young people a powerful lesson in character, determination, honesty and dedication to a national cause.
🌟 Pakistan’s Achievements — Our National Strength
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted Pakistan’s achievements and contributions in science and technology, space research, engineering, aviation, banking, business, education and sports.
She emphasized that Pakistan has never lacked talented and capable people, noting that its engineers, scientists, teachers, students, businesspeople and members of the armed forces represent the country’s immense human potential.
She urged students to reflect honestly on the question:
“Where did Pakistan go?”
While acknowledging the challenges facing the country, she stressed that Pakistan must examine the reasons for its difficulties rather than lose hope in its future. Consistency, discipline, honesty, education, hard work, accountability and national responsibility, she said, are essential for sustainable progress.

The Worthy Vice Chancellor emphasized that young people must not merely remember national heroes but should adopt the qualities that made their contributions meaningful.
She urged students to make integrity, discipline, dedication, courage, respect for law, hard work and service to society practical values in their daily lives.
“Pakistan’s future is not someone else’s responsibility; it is our collective responsibility.”
She further stressed that Pakistan’s progress cannot be achieved through slogans alone. It requires educated, skilled, disciplined and responsible citizens who are prepared to contribute honestly within their respective fields.
The Vice Chancellor encouraged SZABUL students to use their education, knowledge and professional abilities for the development and prosperity of Pakistan and to become productive citizens who contribute positively to society.
🏆 Celebrating Student Participation
The Independence Day programme also featured patriotic performances and active student participation. Certificates were distributed among students who participated in competitions held from 1 to 13 August, as well as society patrons, organizing staff, participants of ORIC Research Writing activities, and participants of the 14 August celebrations.
The celebrations concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by networking tea and coffee, bringing together faculty members, officers, staff and students.

The 79th Independence Day celebrations reflected SZABUL’s commitment not only to producing academically capable graduates but also to nurturing responsible, disciplined, principled and socially conscious citizens.
