The Pakistan Psychological Society (PPA) recently hosted a successful scientific session as part of its 15th International Conference, held in collaboration with Lahore Leads University. This event brought together a distinguished gathering of academicians, researchers, and professionals, including Dr. Ismatullah Cheema, Dr. Fareeha Eram Rizvi, and Dr. Usman Rasheed, to delve into the latest advancements in psychology and explore its diverse applications.
The session was a platform for knowledge sharing, fostering intellectual discourse, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. Renowned experts presented insightful research findings, sparking discussions and inspiring future research directions. The Department of Psychology organized a workshop on "Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis with AMOS" on October 13, 2024, at 10 AM in the Seminar Hall of Lahore Leads University. Dr. Sumaira Malik coordinated the event, with Dr. Rehana Mushtaq, an Assistant Professor from UMT, serving as the guest speaker. Dr. Nadeem Ahmad Bhatti, Vice Chancellor of Lahore Leads University, attended as the chief guest. Dr. Amjad Tufail provided guidance to faculty members in the workshop's preparation, while Dr. Sumaira Malik hosted the event and coordinated arrangements with Dr. Hina Sultan.
During the workshop, Dr. Rehana Mushtaq emphasized the significance of scale construction in the social sciences. Participants engaged in hands-on activities that focused on data interpretation and model validation using AMOS. The session commenced with an introduction to Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), which aids in uncovering underlying relationships among variables without preconceived biases. Attendees practiced using AMOS software to visualize factor structures and interpret the results.
The workshop then progressed to Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), allowing participants to test specific hypotheses about their data. By utilizing AMOS's robust capabilities, they explored model fit indices and assessed reliability and validity. The importance of well-constructed scales was continually underscored, as effective measurement tools are crucial for accurately capturing psychological constructs and ensuring research reliability.

Lahore Leads University arranged a remarkable international conference titled "Integration of Social Sciences", dated: 1-3 March 2024. The Department of Psychology enthusiastically participated and contributed in arranging the conference. Ms Saba Ehsaan (Lecturer, Psychology Department)and Dr Hina Sultan(Head of Psychology Department), attended the meetings and prepared the list of speakers.Dr. Hina Sultan presented two papers '"Religious and Resilient Coping in Women with Breast Cancer" and Impact of Self-esteem and Stress on Emotions of Celiac Disease Patients. Ms. Sumaira Malik (lecturer of Psychology) moderated the session. Prof Dr Ismat Ullah Cheema was the session chair. He appreciated the presenters and also presented the certificates. Ms Sumaira Malik was also presented with the certificate. The conference went well and everyone learned a lot through this platform. Department of Psychology really appreciates the efforts of the Vice Chancellor (Dr. Nadeem Bhatti), Registrar, Dean (Prof Dr Rafaqat and Dr Javaid), Heads of all social sciences departments, faculty members and others. Here, we also pay thanks to our hardworking students who actively participated in the conference to make it successful.

Department of Psychology, Lahore Leads University organized the Board of Studies meeting on 10th March 2024 at 10 am, in the HOD office. Meeting members were Dr Hina Sultan (Head of Psychology Department), Ms Sumaira Malik (lecturer), Ms. Fouzia Sultana (Lecturer). External members were Prof. Dr Ismat Ullah Cheema (Chairperson: School of Behavioral Sciences, Minhaj University Lahore) and Prof. Dr. Amjed Tufail (Chairperson, Govt. MAO College Lahore). Dr Sehrish Khan from QEC department and Dr. Faisal (Nominee by registrar) was also part of the meeting. Externals gave valuable suggestions regarding addressed agendas and approved the following agenda items

A MOU was signed out between the Department of Psychology and Pakistan Recovery Oasis, Addiction Management and Psychological Services, Lahore
on 23rd February 2024. Faculty members from psychology department included Dr. Hina Sultan, Ms. Sumaira Malik, Ms Saba Ehsaan, Ms. Bakhtawar Arif and Ms. Fouzia Sultana. Through combined and mutual efforts of Psychology faculty members, CEOs named "Imran Hussain Khan"and "Junaid Ahmed" of Rehabilitation Center were invited to Lahore Leads University. The basic purpose of signing out the MOU to conduct Internships in the Center settings,.
And the department of Psychology, can refer to โ€œBS students/MS.โ€ for internship in Pakistan Recovery Oasis. Also, Psychology Department of Leads University may engage Pakistan Recovery Oasis professionals in seminars, and workshops at national/international references.
The Psychology Department of Leads University and Pakistan Recovery Oasis can host joint psychology and other allied faculties conferences. So, the agreement signed out between both parties. Such initiatives by the Psychology Department can be very fruitful for students and will also be helpful in development and progress of the department

The Department of Psychology arranged and organized a seminar on "Emgerance of Forensic Psychology in Pakistan" on 18th September 2023, at 9:30 am in seminar hall of Lahore Leads University. Dr. Hina Sultan hosted and organized the seminar with an active involvement of Dr Wahida Anjum (Chairperson of Psychology Department), Miss Nimra Munawar (Lecturer)and Miss Bakhtawar Arif (Lecturer). Dr Almas Irfan(Prison Psychologist at Punjab Prison Department) explained in detail the ideology of forensic psychology, its sub divisions and especially shared his own experiences while dealing with criminals in Jail settings. He also briefed a very wonderful experiment which he conducted with his colleagues for the treatment and rehabilitation of criminals. Seminar Hall was completely filled out by around 50 students. Students actively participated and asked relevant questions, the effectiveness of the lecture got apparent by its timings, as the guest speaker continued to deliver the lecture for more than 2 hours and everyone was listening to him keenly. In the end, Dr. Wahida Anjum concluded the seminar by presenting the souvenir to the guest speaker and a group photo was captured in front of the library room of Lahore Leads University.

Department of Psychology arranged a seminar on "Wisdom of Forgiveness" on 5th September 2023 at 11 am in seminar hall of Lahore Leads University.Prof. Dr. Ismat Ullah Cheema from Minhaj University was the guest speaker while Dr Nadeem Ahmed Bhatti vice chancellor of Lahore Leads University was invited as a Chief Guest. Dr Wahida Anjum guided the faculty members regarding seminar arrangements adequately. Dr Hina Sultan hosted the event and also made necessary arrangements with Miss Nimra Munawar and Miss Bakhtawar Arif. Dr Ismat Ullah Cheema highlighted the importance of forgiveness in the light of Quranic references as well as quoted many features elaborated by western culture. He also emphasized that forgiving tendencies improve our physical and mental well-being and is one of the best remedies to keep a person stress free. Around 60 students from the psychology department enthusiastically participated in the seminar and they asked relevant questions at the end of the session. Finally, respected VC and Dr Wahida Anjum concluded the seminar and presented souvenir to worthy guest speaker. Students were also awarded with certificates of participation on stage. At 1 pm, the seminar ended with cheerful faces.

Everyone dreams of having the perfect career. There are many students out there who want to achieve a promising career with a rewarding yet secure and bright future. Especially in these hard times, when there is a high unemployment rate, and rising inflation. Students want to make sure they are choosing the right scope which will certainly lead them toward the road to success. The scope of Forensic Psychology in Pakistan is growing. This is ideal for students interested in Psychology, who can choose several key specializations. However, a few years back, the idea of forensic psychology was almost non-existent in Pakistan, but the services were highly required. But nowadays the scope for forensic psychology in Pakistan is catching up with the pace and many job opportunities are available in the job market. So our students will get innovative ideas regarding this new emerging field of Psychology.
