Meet Dr. Iftikhar Ali, an Assistant Professor of Microbiology at Department of Life Sciences SSC at the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore. He has 15+ years of teaching and research experience and holds a PhD in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics.
His research focuses on bacterial biopolymers, fermentation, antimicrobial compounds, bioplastics, bacterial genetics, and wastewater treatment. He has 21 international research publications, supervises graduate and undergraduate research, reviews for international journals, and specializes in applied and industrial microbiology.

Meet Dr. Rana Muhammad Mateen, He is an Assistant Professor in Biotechnology/Molecular Biology at Department of Life Sciences, SSC at the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore. He specializes in forensic DNA and serology, molecular biology, molecular docking and dynamics, and drug repurposing.
He holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and Forensic Sciences, has 38+ research publications, and has supervised numerous MS and BS research theses. This partnership is an important step towards strengthening the connection between academia and industry and creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation of biotech professionals.Through this collaboration, we will work together to provide UMT students with internship and placement opportunities, support the UMT Cooperative Education Program (COOP), facilitate industrial visits to HiTech Biotech facilities, conduct awareness and mentoring sessions, and explore joint research initiatives.

Dr. Muhammad Ali is an Associate Professor of Virology in the Department of Life Sciences, School of Science, at the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore, Pakistan. He is a dedicated academic, researcher, and educator with over 15 years of teaching and research experience at undergraduate and graduate levels. He holds a PhD in Virology and Immunology from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and an MPhil in Biotechnology from the University of Agriculture, Peshawar. His research expertise spans virology, immunology, plant virology, bioinformatics, begomovirus characterization, emerging infectious diseases, and in-silico drug discovery. He has authored 42 research publications, with 1,178 citations, and has supervised numerous MS and BS research students as well as serving as an HEC-approved PhD supervisor. His academic contributions also include serving as Editor-in-Chief of Scientific Inquiry & Review, authoring book chapters, leading an HEC-funded research project, and undertaking research as a visiting scholar at McGill University, Canada. His teaching expertise covers general virology, molecular biology, genetics, genetic engineering, recombinant DNA technology, bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, cell signaling, and protein structure and function.
