[ Research Update] It is a matter of great pride for UMT that Dr Muhammad Zubair, Lecturer for the Department of Mathematics (SST) has been awarded with the "Research Productivity Award 2013-14" by Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST) in the category "C”. He is ranked at 124th position among the 321 successful candidates and placed second as PhD Scholar.

He has recently completed his PhD in the field of General Relativity and Cosmology from Department of Mathematics, University of the Punjab Lahore, Pakistan. He has published 16 research papers in ISI impact factor journals of International repute with total impact factor 45.

Dr Muhammad Zubair has also been awarded with Research Fellowship from DPCC, University of Punjab, Pakistan for MPhil research work and Indigenous PhD

The Department of Architecture and Planning organized a seminar titled “A Talk on Architecture” on 23rd April 2014. The Chairman of the Department, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Awan, gave a briefing on the UMT’s program of Architecture. He also gave an introduction of the Speaker who is a renowned architect, visionary scholar and writer of internationally recognized books on architecture. A large number of students and faculty members from the UMT, Punjab University, UET and other institutions of Lahore attended the seminar. The audience paid full attention to the thoughts presented by the renowned scholar of the country.

Prof. Kamil spoke on the global, regional and urban issues of the built environment. He focused on the conservation of the natural resources, urban heritage and cultural assets. He emphasized architecture is not an isolated studies rather it is an important part of overall regional and urban development. After the lecture faculty and students participated in a very healthy discussion.

Prof Kamil appreciated the efforts made for the seminar series by the UMT’s Department of Architecture and Planning.
