University of the Punjab Established in 1882 at Lahore, the University of the Punjab is the largest and the oldest seat of higher learning in Pakistan.

It was the first to be established in the sub-continent in Muslim majority area. Located in the historical and culturally alive city of Lahore, this University has played a leading role in higher education in the country. The University strives to provide a conducive environment for the pursuit of the academic activities. On account of its quality degrees, pleasant environment and low tuition fees

the University remains the institution of first choice for admission seeking students. Allama Iqbal Campus, named after the great South Asian thinker and mystic poet, with Islamic architectural design is in the middle of the bustling city of Lahore. Quaid-i-Azam Campus, after the name of the father of the Nation, is located 12 kilometers to the South of Allama Iqbal Campus. Spread over an area of 1800 acres of lush green landscape, this campus is the centre of academic and administrative activities of the University. A canal dividing the academic blocks from the student lodgings and adds to the beauty of the campus. The University has also a summer campus at Khanaspur, located at a height of about 7,000 ft. in the Himalayan range near Ayubia. This Campus, in addition to providing research facilities, is also used as a recreational centre for the faculty and the students. The University has also started Sub-Campuses at Gujranwala and Jhelum, with four disciplines i.e. Business Administration, Commerce, Law and Information Technology. Few more disciplines will be added in near future. The University comprises of 5 Campuses, 13 Faculties, 10 Constituent Colleges, over 73 Departments, Centres, Institutes, and 614 affiliated colleges. It has over 818 permanent faculty members involved in teaching/research and over 36,000 on campus students.

کیبنٹ سے منظوری کے بعد جامعات کی پہلی کمرشل پالیسی لائیں گے، رانا سکندر حیات
لاہور(24اگست،سوموار):صوبائی وزیر تعلیم رانا سکندر حیات خان نے کہا ہے کہ کیبنٹ سے منظوری کے بعد جامعات کی پہلی کمرشل پالیسی لائیں گے اور جامعات کی مالی مشکلات کے ازالے کے لئے امسال فنڈنگ بھی بڑھائیں گے۔ وہ پنجاب یونیورسٹی سکول آف کیمسٹری میں سیور فوڈز کے تعاون سے واٹر فلٹریشن پلانٹ کی افتتاح تقریب سے خطاب کررہے تھے۔ اس موقع پر وائس چانسلرپنجاب یونیورسٹی پروفیسرڈاکٹر محمد علی،سیور فوڈ کے سی ای او محمد نعیم،ڈائریکٹر سکول آف کیمسٹری ڈاکٹرعدیل افضل،ڈائریکٹر سکلز ڈویلپمنٹ سنٹرڈاکٹرامتیاز شفیق، اساتذہ و سٹاف نے شرکت کی۔ اپنے خطاب میں رانا سکندر حیات نے کہا کہ پنجاب یونیورسٹی کا مالی استحکام گزشتہ 2 سال میں بہتر ہوا ہے اوریونیورسٹی کی زرعی زمین 20 ہزار سے بڑھ کر 3، 3 لاکھ پر گئی ہے۔ا نہوں نے کہا کہ پنجاب یونیورسٹی کے ریوینیومیں 1200 فیصد اضافہ ہوا ہے۔انہوں نے کہا کہ وائس چانسلرپروفیسرڈاکٹر محمد علی کی کاوشوں سے پنجاب یونیورسٹی نے اپنے خسارے پر بڑی حد تک قابو پایا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ وائس چانسلرپروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد علی انتہائی قابل شخص ہیں۔انہوں نے کہا کہ پبلک پرائیوایٹ پارٹنر شپ کے ذریعے فلاحی کاموں کا آغاز احسن اقدام ہے۔انہوں نے کہا کہ صاف پانی طلباؤطالبات، اساتذہ اورسٹاف کے لئے ایک بہترین سہولت ہے۔انہوں نے پنجاب یونیورسٹی میں بہترین ٹیکنالوجی پر مبنی واٹر فلٹریشن پلانٹ کی تنصیب پر سیور فوڈ کا شکریہ اداکیا۔پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد علی نے کہا کہ پنجاب یونیورسٹی میں اساتذہ، ملازمین، طلباؤ طالبات کی فلاح و بہبود کے ہر منصوبے کو پایہ تکمیل تک پہنچائیں گے۔ سی ای او سیور فوڈز محمد نعیم نے کہا کہ پنجاب یونیورسٹی میں طلباؤ طالبات کے لئے فلاحی کاموں کو جاری رکھیں گے۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ واٹر فلٹریشن پلانٹ کی دیکھ بھال کی ذمہ داری بھی ہماری ہو گی۔
