Celebrating Christmas at the Department of Mass Communication, LCWU

The Department of Mass Communication, LCWU celebrated Christmas with our Christian students and staff to promote and strengthen interfaith harmony and inclusivity.

The celebration was graced by Chairperson Dr. Zaeem Yasin along with the faculty members, who joined students and staff in sharing moments of warmth, respect, and joy.

Students of BS Mass Communication, LCWU — Ayesha Mansoor and Alishah Aqeel — secured the 1st Prize at MediaFest held on 3rd & 4th December 2025 at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore. Their Public Service Message on the theme of Child Labour, supervised by Dr. Zaeem Yasin, was selected as the best entry among submissions from institutions across Pakistan. The project was highly appreciated for its clarity, depth, and strong social relevance.

Display of Media Entrepreneurship Projects– Department of Mass Communication, LCWU

The Department of Mass Communication at LCWU organised an engaging Display of Media Entrepreneurship Projects prepared by BS students. The display showcased students’ innovative ideas, creative products, and practical business models.
The event was inaugurated by Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi, who appreciated the students’ hard work and applauded their efforts in transforming classroom learning into real-world entrepreneurial ventures.
Dr. Zaeem Yasin, Chairperson, Mass Comm Department, Mr. Anwar Khan, Protocol Officer, Sheikh Ghias, Senior Estate Officer and Faculty Members of Mass Comm Department graced the event.
Ms. Niza Qureshi, Course Instructor, provided a platform for young communicators to convert their skills into sustainable business opportunities and promote a culture of innovation within the university.
The display concluded with appreciation from the Vice Chancellor, who commended the students for their thought-provoking ideas and artistic expression.

The Department of Mass Communication, Lahore College for Women University, organized an insightful Special Lecture on “Journalism in the Digital Age” by renowned journalist Mr. Ajmal Jami from Suno TV under the supervision of Dr. Zaeem Yasin, Chairperson
The session offered students a deep understanding of the evolving dynamics of journalism in today’s fast-paced digital world — highlighting new challenges, opportunities, and ethical responsibilities in online media.
Such interactive sessions inspire our future media professionals to stay informed, innovative, and responsible in shaping the future of journalism.
Faculty members from the Department of Mass Communication attended the session. Dr. Arsha Meer was the moderator.

Poster Display on Social Issues – Department of Mass Communication, LCWU

The Department of Mass Communication, LCWU, organized an engaging Poster Display on Social Issues prepared by BS students. The exhibition showcased students’ creativity, critical thinking, and sense of social responsibility through powerful visual storytelling.

The event was inaugurated by our Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi, and held under the supervision of Dr. Zaeem Yasin (Chairperson) and Dr. Bilal Nawaz (Assistant Professor).

The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Faliha Kazmi, Prof. Dr. Amna Moazzam, Dr. Arham Shabbir, Dr. Ayesha, Mr. Shahid Jamil, Mr. Anwar Khan, and Mr. Sheikh Ghias.

The students’ posters highlighted a range of pressing social issues, including gender equality, environmental degradation, digital addiction, education inequality, child labour, mental health awareness, and climate change. Each display combined strong visual aesthetics with impactful messages, reflecting the students’ deep understanding of contemporary challenges faced by society.

The exhibition provided a platform for young communicators to express their perspectives on social reform through media and art. It also aimed to encourage critical discourse among students, faculty, and visitors on how communication can drive positive social change.

The event concluded with appreciation from the Vice Chancellor and faculty members, who commended the students for their thought-provoking ideas and artistic expression.

The Department of Mass Communication, Lahore College for Women University, successfully conducted a captivating session today with Farwa Waheed, Anchor at AIK News under the Supervision of Dr. Zaeem Yasin.
It was an inspiring and interactive discussion on the skills, confidence, and creativity that shape a successful news anchor. Students gained valuable insights into the world of media presentation, on-screen communication, and the art of connecting with audiences.
A heartfelt thank you to Farwa Waheed for sharing her professional experiences and motivating our future media professionals. Thanks to Faculty, Students and Coordinators as well.

PhD Scholar of Department of Mass Communication, LCWU, Ms. Hina Malik successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis titled "Role of Social Institutions in the Prevalence and Prevention of Cyberbullying Among Pakistani Youth: A Comparative Study of Family, Peer and Media”. Dr. Zaeem Yasin, Chairperson, Department of Mass Communication, convened the Ph.D. defence. Dr. Sumera Batool (Associate Professor, Department of Mass Communication, LCWU) supervised the thesis of the candidate. External examiners were Prof. Dr. Bushra Hameedur Rahman (Dean, School of Media & Mass Communication, Beacon House National University, Lahore) and Prof. Dr. Fawad Baig (Dean, Faculty of Media & Mass Communication, University of Central Punjab, Lahore). The external examiners lauded PhD scholar for her excellent research work.
Faculty members of the Department of Mass Communication also attended the defence. All participants congratulated Ms. Hina Malik on her successful completion of PhD degree.
