The National College of Arts proudly honors its 150 years of creative legacy, a milestone that marks our unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation and artistic expression. For a century and

a half, NCA has stood as a symbol of cultural richness and academic rigor, shaping generations of artists, architects, designers, filmmakers, musicians and scholars who have gone on to influence both national and global creative landscapes. Our mission continues to be rooted in enabling our students to challenge boundaries and reimagine the world through their practice. With fourteen undergraduate and four graduate programs; now including new and dynamic departments in Fashion Design and Multimedia, NCA offers a comprehensive academic structure designed to meet the evolving needs of the creative industries. NCA’s distinguished faculty, comprising renowned practitioners and leaders, provide mentorship and guidance that is both rigorous and inspirational. Coupled with state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant campus culture, our students thrive in an environment that values experimentation, diversity and dialogue. As we celebrate this historic 150-year milestone, it is potent to mention that we have expanded our reach with the establishment of a new campus in Gilgit Baltistan, bringing our distinctive educational experience to more aspiring creatives across the country. Students from The Trust School, a project of Foundation for Education and Development of Deserving Students (FEDDS), visited National College of Arts to explore future career pathways in art, design, architecture, and other creative disciplines. The visit offered students a valuable opportunity to experience the vibrant academic and creative environment of the institution while gaining insight into higher education opportunities that can help shape their future aspirations.

During the visit, the students were taken on a guided tour of the campus, where they visited various departments, studios, and creative spaces. They also witnessed live work in progress within the studios, allowing them to observe students and faculty engaged in practical artistic and design processes firsthand. The interactive experience gave the visiting students a deeper understanding of the creative disciplines taught at NCA and inspired them to explore artistic and academic possibilities for their future.

The National College of Arts welcomed a distinguished delegation of senior Bangladeshi academicians on 18th May, 2026 as part of an academic exchange initiative facilitated by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. The delegation, led by the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Bangladesh, included Vice Chancellors from renowned universities of Bangladesh and aimed to promote academic collaboration, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding between the higher education institutions of both countries.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri, warmly welcomed the guests and they were shown an introductory documentary on the history, legacy, and academic contributions of NCA at the Vice Chancellor’s Office. Following the documentary, the delegation was given a guided tour of the campus, where they visited various departments, studios, and academic spaces, gaining insight into NCA’s vibrant artistic and educational environment. A group photograph was also taken in front of the iconic NCA main building to commemorate the occasion. The visit concluded with refreshments at the NCA Chai Khana, where members of the delegation interacted with the administration and faculty in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

OPPORTUNITY FOR PM LAPTOP HOLDERS

Prime Minister’s Office took initiative regarding the Digital Youth Hub (DYH), developed under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme in collaboration with UNICEF.
The platform has been established as a centralized digital portal to facilitate youth through opportunities related to Education, Employment, Engagement and Environment (4Es). The Digital Youth Hub provides access to various opportunities, including scholarships, employment opportunities, entrepreneurship support, business financing, volunteering avenues, and skill development programs. The platform also offers AI-based recommendations to guide users toward relevant opportunities according to their interests and career aspirations.

In this regard, beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme (all phases) are directed to register themselves on the Digital Youth Hub through the PMYP portal at https://pmyp.gov.pk and download the mobile application for maximum outreach and utilization of the platform.

The National College of Arts organised a poster exhibition against drug abuse in collaboration with the Drug Advisory Training Hub, aiming to raise awareness among students about the harmful effects of narcotics and the importance of building a healthy and responsible society. The exhibition featured thought provoking posters created to highlight the social, psychological, and physical consequences of drug addiction while encouraging collective action towards a drug free environment.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri, was present at the occasion and the exhibition was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Lahore, Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ejaz. The event was also attended by Zahid Anjum as a special guest.

Consultant Anti-Drug Campaign Syed Zulfiqar Hussain briefed participants on the SOPs for smoke and drug free campuses, stressing the importance of preventive measures, awareness campaigns, and institutional collaboration in combating substance abuse. An MoU was also signed between the National College of Arts and the Drug Advisory Training Hub to strengthen collaborative efforts for awareness initiatives, training programmes, and the promotion of smoke and drug free campuses.

A memorable literary event featuring a special Mushaira titled “Ab Wohi Harf-e-Junoon” was hosted at the Shakir Ali Auditorium. Bringing together some of the most celebrated voices of Urdu literature, including Iftikhar Arif, Asghar Nadeem Syed, Nazir Qaiser and other distinguished poets and writers. The gathering celebrated the depth, beauty, and timeless spirit of Urdu poetry. The Mushaira created an atmosphere of reflection, expression, and literary appreciation, leaving audiences deeply engaged with the power of words and rhythm. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Murtaza Jafri remarked that the institution remains a beacon of creativity, consistently providing a platform where literature and artistic expression can thrive.

A special Mushaira titled “Ab Wohi Harf-e-Junoon” was organised at the Shakir Ali auditorium, bringing together some of the country’s most distinguished poets, writers, and literary voices including Iftikhar Arif, Asghar Nadeem Syed, Yasmin Hameed, Nazeer Qaiser, Shaheen Abbas, Khalid Masood, Adnan Baig, Qamar Raza Shehzad, Saima Aftab, Hammad Ghaznavi, Idrees Babar, Khurram Afaq, Raza Jafri, Abrar Hussain, Saad Jabbar, Fatima Asad, and Shayan Anjum. The mushaira was presided by respectable Iftikhar Arif, nazamat was taken care by Saad Jabbar and Fatima Asad, patronised by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri, and warmed by the engaging atmosphere of the gathering celebrating Urdu literature. The poetry, not only recited but bridged generations, experiences, and emotions. The Mushaira was attended by students, faculty members, literary enthusiasts, and guests from across the city, all gathered to witness a thoughtful dialogue and powerful recitations. Through ghazals, nazams, and reflective verses, the poets explored themes of love, longing, identity, resistance, memory, and the complexities of the human experience.

The session offered audiences a rare opportunity to engage with one of the most celebrated voices of Urdu literature, whose work continues to inspire generations of readers and writers alike.
