‎Beaconhouse National University proudly recognizes Dr. Maheen Abid, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Psychology, for co-authoring an article published in the International Journal of Social Sciences Bulletin. Her article, titled "Closed Minds and Open Ballots: Investigating Need for Cognition, Dogmatism and Extremism in Pakistani Voters," examines the psychological factors underlying political behavior among Pakistani voters. Using a cross-sectional survey of 111 eligible voters, the study found that higher need for cognition was associated with lower extremism, while greater dogmatism was linked to higher extremism. The findings highlight the role of cognitive engagement and ideological rigidity in shaping political attitudes and underscore the importance of civic education and media reforms in addressing political polarization.
